Why is Colin Kaepernick still starting? 49ers coach gets grilled at presser The San Francisco media cut right to the chase on Monday during Jim Tomsula's press conference. One day after 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw a career-high four interceptions in a 47-7 loss to the Cardinals, the media had one big question for Tomsula.

"I believe in Colin Kaepernick and I think he's got the tools to be a darn good quarterback in this football league," Tomsula said.

The grilling didn't stop there though.

Tomsula was also asked if he thinks Kaepernick is "currently a good quarterback."

The 49ers coach answered that question with the perfect non-answer.

"[On Sunday], we weren't a good team," Tomsula said. "Yesterday, none of us were very good."

If that Tomsula thought he was getting off the hook after two Kaepernick questions he was wrong, because the third question of his press conference was also Kaepernick-related.

This time around, Tomsula was asked if Kaepernick is will be the 49ers quarterback "no matter what happens."

Tomsula didn't commit to sticking with Kaepernick forever, but he did say that Kaepernick's definitely the team's starter.

"Here's where I am with that. I mean, yes, he's our starting quarterback, but we're in a game of football," Tomsula said. "I mean, infinity and statements to that term at any position, but I've had no thoughts of him not being our quarterback. He's our quarterback."

Tomsula had to deal with the Kaepernick questions because of the way his quarterback played against Arizona. Not only did Kaepernick throw four picks, but he only completed 9 of 19 passes....
