AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd ordered to stay off drugs after breaching bail AC/DC rocker Phil Rudd has been ordered to stay off drugs by a New Zealand court after breaching his bail conditions.

Rudd, 60, who denies charges of threatening to kill, and possession of cannabis and methamphetamine, had been remanded on bail last week by a court in the North Island city of Tauranga, where he lives.

One of the conditions of his bail was that he should have no contact with any of the complainants or prosecution witnesses.

But Greg Hollister-Jones, the Crown solicitor, told Tauranga District Court that Rudd had committed a serious breach, which involved potential inference with a Crown witness.

Lawyer Craig Tuck said Rudd acknowledged he had breached the non-association condition by having contact with a prosecution witness at a local shop.

Judge Paul Geoghegan allowed bail again but imposed a further condition, banning Rudd from consuming illegal drugs.

Mr Hollister-Jones said he had sought the extra condition because of Rudd’s erratic behaviour, and it would help to manage his complacence about all his bail conditions.

Rudd muttered only unintelligible responses when questioned by reporters as he was leaving the court, before leaving in a waiting sports car.

The AC/DC drummer was handcuffed and taken into police custody about 10.45am on Thursday outside Tauranga Girls' College, although not formally arrested....
