Jennifer Connelly: I loved Russell Crowe reunion on Noah, but working with husband Paul Bettany is even better Although only 34, Jenniferís career began more than 23 years ago at the age of 11 when she joined Robert De Niro and James Woods in Italy for Sergio Leoneís Once Upon A Time In America. And while still only 14 she travelled to London to co-star with David Bowie in Labyrinth.

She is married to British actor Paul Bettany, whom she met on the set of A Beautiful Mind in 2002, the film that won her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. They have two children Ė Stellan, 10, and Agnes, two Ė and Jennifer has a 16-year-old son Kai by a previous relationship.

Her latest movie is the £100m epic Noah, which reunites her with her A Beautiful Mind co-star Russell Crowe.

What do you think about the criticism of Noah that much of it isnít in the Bible and is a Hollywood invention?

That was down to people who hadnít seen the film yet. But it is true to the spirit of the story in the Bible.

How was it working with Russell Crowe again after A Beautiful Mind?

Having had that history together we were able to just dive in from the very first rehearsal and get started. Russell is someone who really explores the material in the rehearsal process so we started investigating everything together. I love working with him.

You play Noahís wife, Naameh, about whom very little is known. What kind of research did you do?

Itís true that Genesis doesnít say much about her, but the script portrays her as a loyal wife and devoted mother who is both emotionally very strong and also virtuous. I was curious about what her contribution to the household might have been so I explored what archaeologists had to say, I looked online and read up from different sources. She has to deal with feelings of loyalty, doubt, loss and fear Ė all primal human emotions. I think sheís a very striking character.

The outfits she wears look very fashionable and modern. How did you feel about that?

I thought they were beautiful and very interesting because they could have come from that time or they could be contemporary. It feels sort of timeless which I think is really effective.

Naameh looks beautiful and doesnít seem to grow any older.

We did certain things to age my character but we didnít want any heavy prosthetic make-up or a wig. We felt we could accomplish some of those changes through more subtle differences.

There is an emotional scene in the movie where your character has to cry. What makes you cry in real life?

Thatís really hard to say. The last thing that made me cry was when my son was upset about a friend of his moving away. He was talking about how he was trying to navigate the situation.

How do you juggle being a mother with three children and an actress?

When I was pregnant with Agnes I took two years off and didnít work for the first year of her life, either. Iím lucky that I can bring my kids with me when Iím working. Agnes is with me on this press tour and when we filmed Noah in Iceland it was summer, so the boys and Paul came as well. It was an amazing adventure....
