American actress Melissa Benoist is perhaps most known for playing Marley Rose on season four and the first part of season five on the Fox musical comedy/drama television series “Glee” (2012-2014), from which she picked up a Teen Choice nomination. Her films credits include “Tennessee” (2008), “Whiplash” (2014), “Danny Collins” (2015),“The Longest Ride” (2015). Benoist will be starring as Supergirl in the CBS television series of the same name.

On July 11, 2013, Benoist announced her engagement to actor Blake Jenner. The couple began dating in 2012 when they both were starring in “Glee.” Benoist has three tattoos: a feather and the word “free” on the back of her neck, a wolf on her left wrist, and a bicycle on her left foot.

Melissa Marie Benoist, who would late be popular as Melissa Benoist, was born on October 4, 1988, in Littleton, Colorado, to parents Jim and Julie Benoist. She has two biological sisters: Kristina and Jessica, and five half siblings: Tanner, Coco, Estella,Tor and Rocket, from her father's later marriage. Melissa graduated from Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Colorado in 2007 and from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City in 2011.        



Melissa Benoist started her career on stage with Littleton Town Hall Arts Center in the production of “The Sound of Music” (2000), where she played Little Brigitta. She also has appeared in Littleton Town Hall Arts Center's productions of “Bye Bye Birdie” (2006), “A Month in the Country” (2006), “A Chorus Line” (2006), “Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella” (2007), “Footloose” (2007) as well as in other plays like Country Dinner Playhouse's final production's of “Evita” (2007), the Marymount Manhattan College productions of “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “As You Like It” (both 2009) and the Goodspeed Musical production of “The Unauthorized Biography of Samantha Brown” (2011).          

In 2008, Benoist made her film debut in the Lee Daniels produced drama “Tennessee,” playing Laurel - age 18. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 26, 2008 and was released to select theaters on June 5, 2009. She then made guest appearances in several television series like “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2010, playing Jessalyn Kerr), “Blue Bloods” (2010, playing Renee), “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2010, playing Ava), “The Good Wife” (2010, playing Molly) and “Homeland” (2 episodes, 2011, playing Stacy Moore).

In 2012, Benoist joined the cast of the Fox musical series “Glee” in the show's fourth season in the recurring role of Marley Rose. She was promoted to the main cast in the following season, and was nominated for a 2013 Teen Choice Award in the category of Choice TV: Breakout for her performance.

In 2014, Benoist was cast Andrew Neiman's love interest in “Whiplash,” a drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle.
    Recently, Benoist appeared in the comedy/drama film “Danny Collins” (2015), starring Al Pacino, Annette Bening, Jennifer Garner, Bobby Cannavale and Christopher Plummer, and co-starred with Scott Eastwood, Britt Robertson, Jack Huston, Oona Chaplin and Alan Alda in “The Longest Ride” (2015), a romantic drama film directed by George Tillman, Jr. and written by Craig Bolotin. She played the role of Becky Thatcher in the adventure/comedy film “Band of Robbers” (2015).  

Benoist will star as the title role in the television series “Supergirl,” based on the DC Comics character Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino. The series is set to debut on CBS on October 26, 2015. On the wide screen, Benoist will star in drama film “Low Riders” (with Eva Longoria and Theo Rossi) and in the upcoming flick “Billy Boy,” directed by her fiance, Blake Jenner.
