Gossip Girl

“I know she's the b****y one. But she's a good girl. The funny thing is she's not like a normal character on one of these types of shows. Usually the bad girl is the b****. It's interesting and she's actually a real girl. Of course she does and says the most outrageous things that you would never even think to do in real life.” Leighton Meester (on her character Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl")

Entering the business at age 11 as a model, Leighton Meester turned to acting and is popular among TV viewers as Blair Waldorf on the hit CW teen drama series "Gossip Girl" (2007-Present).

“I love them! I love all of it! Whenever I'm getting ready to go on set and I'm in the full outfit, that's when I feel like I'm truly the character. I love the school uniform and of course headbands are always in style when it comes to the show.” Leighton Meester (on the headbands she wears as Blair Waldorf on "Gossip Girl")

Leighton has also appeared in such TV shows as "Law & Order," "Boston Public," "Tarzan," "Crossing Jordan," "7th Heaven," "24," "8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter," "Veronica Mars," "Ugly Betty," "Surface," "Numb3rs," "House M.D.," "CSI: Miami," and "Entourage." She was also seen in the films "Hangman's Curse" (2003), "Drive Thru" (2007), "The Beautiful Ordinary" (2007) and "Killer Movie" (2008) and is also set to release an album. She will soon be the new face of Reebok.

“People say blondes have more fun. I really don't think it's about your hair; it's about how you feel on the inside. I say it's the person who has the fun!” Leighton Meester

This 5' 4" beauty is one of People Magazines' “100 Most Beautiful” (2008) and Maxim magazine's “Hot 100 of 2008.” As of December 2008, she is dating actor Sebastian Stan, to whom she is rumored to be engaged.

“I am so good at keeping it not complicated.” Leighton Meester (on her love life)

Happy Feet

Childhood and Family:

“My nickname use to be Happy Feet. If I'm standing there and music is playing on set, I'll be doing this. People used to be like, 'Why are you Happy Feet? You need to stop that now.'” Leighton Meester

On April 9, 1986, Leighton Marissa Claire Meester was born in prison in Marco Island, Florida, as her mother was sentenced for her involvement in a major drug-running ring. Her father, grandfather, and aunt have also reportedly spent time behind bars on charges of drug dealing.

“My mother always believed in me and tried to help me pursue my dreams. She has a lot of faith in me.” Leighton Meester

When she was 11, she moved to New York for three years with her mother. She later attended Beverly Hills High School, in Beverly Hills, California.

Leighton has an older brother, Douglas, and a younger brother, Lex. She is reportedly engaged to actor Sebastian Stan (born on August 13, 1983), whom she met when he guest starred on her TV show "Gossip Girl" in 2007. However, a representative for Stan has denied the rumor.

“Writing poetry is one of my favorite things to do and I always find time for it. There are things that I write about most that are just kind of like everyday thoughts that I have, things that come into my mind.” Leighton Meester

Drive Thru

Starting out as a model at age 11, Leighton Meester was signed by Wilhelmina Models and has worked for such fashion designer as Ralph Lauren and photographer Sophia Coppola. After appearing in a local production of “The Wizard of Oz,” she discovered a passion for acting and began appearing on television by guest-starring on the NBC television series "Law & Order," FOX’s teen drama "Boston Public," ABC’s family drama "Once and Again," and CBS’ sitcom "Family Affair." She also co-starred with Mitch Pileggi, Lucy Lawless, and Douglas O'Keeffe on The WB modern-day adaptation of the classic tale, "Tarzan" (2003). That same year, she also appeared in the 12-minute short adventure film "The Jackalope" and Rafal Zielinski's thriller film based on Frank Peretti's novel, "Hangman's Curse."

The following year, Meester appeared in the TV movie "Hollywood Division" (2004) and was spotted as a guest in an episode of NBC’s series starring Jill Hennessy, "Crossing Jordan," in two episodes of The WB Emmy-nominated family drama "7th Heaven," and the pilot episode of FOX’s primetime soap opera "North Shore." She also had a recurring role as Justine Chapin (2004-2008) on the Emmy Award-winning HBO original series "Entourage."

From 2005 to 2006, Meester co-starred with Lake Bell, Jay R. Ferguson, and Carter Jenkins on the NBC science fiction television series "Surface," playing Savannah Barnett, the sister of Jenkins' character. She also guest starred in the ABC sitcom "8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter," "Veronica Mars," "Ugly Betty," "Monster Allergy," "Secrets of a Small Town," "Numb3rs," and FOX’s medical drama "House M.D." She also played the recurring role of Debbie Pendleton on the critically-acclaimed FOX television show starring Kiefer Sutherland, "24." On the big screen, she could be seen alongside Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer in writer/director Kevin Palys' "Flourish" (2006) and with Nicholas D'Agosto, Cheryl White, and Kevin Kilner in Jeff Mahler's dramatic "Inside" (2006).

“It's mature, but I feel like it speaks to kids and it doesn't white wash anything.” Leighton Meester (on “Gossip Girl”)

2007 saw Meester begin playing her most popular role to date, that of Blair Waldorf, a privileged young woman born to high society on Manhattan's Upper East Side, on the hit CW teen drama series inspired by Cecily von Ziegesar's popular series of novels, "Gossip Girl," alongside Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Ed Westwick. First airing on September 19, 2007, the show is currently in its second season. Her performance in the show earned two Teen Choice Award nominations, one in 2007 for Choice TV Breakout Star Female and one in 2008 for Choice TV Actress: Drama. Meester also guest-starred in an episode of CBS’ crime drama series "CSI: Miami" and in multiple episodes of CBS’ legal drama starring James Woods, "Shark." She also starred in the TV movie "The Haunting of Sorority Row" (2007).

On the wide screen, Meester starred as the gorgeous 17-year-old who comes face to face with the killer clown in the spoof horror film "Drive-Thru" (2007), teamed up with Amber Heard, Alexa Vega, and Melonie Diaz in Jess Manafort's "The Beautiful Ordinary" (2007; "Remember the Daze"), and was recently cast alongside Paul Wesley and Kaley Cuoco in Jeff Fisher's "Killer Movie," which premiered during the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

“I've been playing 16 or 17 [year-olds] for quite a few years. Everyone does that. Hopefully I'll be playing that age for a few years. This is way more fun than high school.” Leighton Meester

Meester, who enjoys singing and even sang in the movie “Drive Thru” (2007), is set to release an album. She is also going to be the new face of Reebok. About her upcoming CD, Meester revealed, “I write the lyrics and I collaborate with my friend and producer Shahine Ezell.”
