American actress Katy Mixon has acted in television, film and on the stage. She is most famous for playing  April Buchanon on the HBO comedy series “Eastbound & Down” (2009-2012) and Victoria Flynn on the CBS television sitcom “Mike and Molly” (2010-?). She shared a Gotham nomination for her performance on the 2011 film “Take Shelter.” Other films she has appeared in include “The Quiet” (2005), “Four Christmases” (2008), “State of Play” (2009), “All About Steve” (2009) and “Drive Angry” (2011).

In late 2009, Mixon began a relationship with a celebrity chef named Bobby Deen.        


Childhood and Family:

Katy Elizabeth Mixon, who would later be known as Katy Mixon, was born on March 30, 1981, in Pensacola, Florida. She is one of seven children. She later moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend Carnegie Mellon University's prestigious School Of Drama. She moved again in 2003, this time to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.

Take Shelter


 In early 2000s, Katy Mixon spent the summer season as a member of the Tony Award winning “Utah Shakespeare Festival” in Cedar City, UT. Her first acting job came in 2001 when she landed the role of Calpurnia in the Utah Shakespearean Festival's presentation of Shakespeare's “Julius Caesar.” After moving to Los Angeles in 2003, Mixon made her television debut in the WB telepic “Then Comes Marriage” (2004), opposite Eric Nenninger, Brooke D'Orsay and Brian Sites.
In 2005, Mixon starred in the premiere of the interactive theater play “American Standard” at the Los Angeles Edgefest. The same year, she hit the wide screen by playing the character Michelle Fell on “The Quiet,” a drama /triller film directed by Jamie Babbit and starring Camilla Belle and Elisha Cuthbert. Though received negative reviews from critics, the film made a worthy profit. Mixon next was cast as Suzie in the comedy film “Blind Dating” (2006), starring Chris Pine, Anjali Jay and Eddie Kaye Thomas, appeared in the award winning short film “Zombie Prom” (2006), which was directed and written by Vince Marcello, and shot a TV series pilot, “Reinventing the Wheelers” (2007), with Amy Tipton, Bea W. Bliss and James Brolin.          

In 2008, Mixon had a small but memorable turn as Susan in “Four Christmases,” starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Directed by Seth Gordon, the film was a commercial success despite receiving poor reviews. The year also saw roles in Peter Tolan's comedy film “Finding Amanda” (starred Matthew Broderick and Brittany Snow), Gregor Jordan's drama/thriller movie “The Informers”   and the made for television film “Small Town News.” Besides, she appeared as Sheila in an episode of “My Name Is Earl” called “Sweet Johnny.”

Mixon was cast as April Buchanon on the acclaimed comedy series “Eastbound & Down,” which premiered on HBO on February 15, 2009. She was a regular player in the season one and went on to be a recurring player in season 2 (September-November 2010) and season 3 (February-April 2012).

Mixon also played the role of Betsy in the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” episodes “Untainted by Filth” (2009), “Tinkle Like a Princess” (2010) and “Gumby with a Pokey” (2010). She portrayed Rhonda Silver in the political thriller film “State of Play” (2009), starring Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams and Helen Mirren, and Elizabeth in the comedy film “All About Steve” (2009), starring Sandra Bullock, Thomas Haden Church and Bradley Cooper.      

Mixon was cast in the regular role of Victoria Flynn, Molly's dimwitted, kindhearted, party girl sister who is frequently high on marijuana, on the television sitcom “Mike & Molly,” which premiered on CBS on September 20, 2010. She remains with the show to the present day.

In 2011, Mixon played the supporting role of Nat on “Take Shelter,” a drama/thriller film written and directed by Jeff Nichols and starring Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. She jointly netted a Gotham nomination in the category of Best Ensemble Cast for her performance. The same year, she portrayed Norma Jean in the action film “Drive Angry,” starring Nicolas Cage and Amber Heard, and made a guest appearance in “Wilfred.” Her voice could be heard as  Mary Jane Watson / Nurse in an episode of “Robot Chicken” called “Major League of Extraordinary Gentlemen” (also 2011).     

Mixon has completed filming the leading role of Sofia in the short film “A Little Something on the Side” (2012), directed by Stephen Tobolowsky. She will play the character Grace on the upcoming drama film “Soul Ties” (2013), opposite Rocsi and Christopher McDonald.
