English actress Fiona Wade is known for portraying Priya Sharma in the ITV soap opera “Emmerdale” from 2011 to the present. She previously played regular roles on “Grange Hill” (1996-1998), “24Seven” (2001 -2002) and “Where the Heart Is” (2006).  She also has performed in many theater productions, including “Strictly Dandia,” “The Far Pavilions” and “Alaska.”

Childhood and Family:

Fiona Wade was born as Fiona Sarah Wade on March 20, 1979, in Enfield, London, England. Her father is English and her mother is Filipino.

Where the Heart Is


 In 1995, Fiona Wade landed an extra in the children's drama “Grange Hill,” and moved on to become a regular the following year. She played the role of Joanna Day in the long running British series from 1996 to 1998. Following this, Wade did not appear in another television show until she landed the main role of Anya Vicenze on the CITV series “24Seven,” which ran from November 19, 2001 to November 27, 2002.  

From January 15 to February 14, 2004, Wade performed in the role of Gujarati Preethi in the stage play “Strictly Dandia,” opposite Paul Tilley, at the Lyric Theatre in London. The story is based on Shakespeare's “Romeo & Juliet.”

2004 also found Wade making a recurring appearance as Decca Taylor on the popular British series “Doctors.”

Wade also has starred in other plays such as playing Kim in “Miss Saigon” both in the UK and Sweden; Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”; Maria in “West Side Story”; and the title roles in adaptations of “Cinderella” and “Aladdin.” In March 2005, she assumed the role of Princess  Anjuli in the West End musical version of M. M. Kaye's “The Far Pavilions.”

In 2006, Wade starred as Rowan Clayton in the ITV family drama “Where the Heart Is.” She went on to make guest appearances in “Genie in the House” (2006), “Holby City” (2007), “Wire in the Blood” (2007), “Waterloo Road” (2008), “Silent Witness” (2008), “Casualty” (2009), “Tracy Beaker Returns” (2010), “Inspector Lewis” (2011), “Coronation Street” (2011) and “Law & Order: UK” (2011). Meanwhile, on stage, she portrayed Mamta in a play called “Alaska” by DC Moore at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Upstairs.  

Wade joined the cast of the long running British soap opera “Emmerdale” to play the regular role of Priya Sharma, replacing Effie Woods. She made her first appearance in the episode broadcast on November 7, 2011.

In 2012, Wade made her film debut in “The Eschatrilogy: Book of the Dead,” a British horror directed and written by Damian Morter and starring Stuart Wolfenden, Sarah-Jane Honeywell and Damian Morter.  

In 2014, Wade appeared in the television movie “Text Santa 2014” with Alicia Eyo, Jeff Hordley and Pauline Quirke.
