Bar Paly is a Russian-born Israeli model and actress. She was first recognized by American audiences for playing the recurring role of Lola in the USA Network series “The Starter Wife” (2008). She has since appeared in several Hollywood films, such as “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” (2012), “Pain & Gain” (2013), “Non-Stop” (2014) and “Million Dollar Arm” (2014). She will appear in the upcoming films “Headlock” (2015), “Trainwreck” (2015) and “Urge” (2015).      


Childhood and Family:

Bar Paly was born as Barbara Phaly on April 29, 1985, in Ural Mountains, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. She relocated to Israel when she was seven and was raised in Tel Aviv.

The Starter Wife


Bar Paly started a career in modeling when she was 17. She branched out to acting in the following year with a guest appearance in the Israeli television drama series “Ahava Me'ever Lapina” (2003) and a part as Max's daughter in the TV film “Big Tuna” (2003), the story of Max Tuna Schreiber, the first Israeli candid camera director. Paly made her American acting debut in the 2006 TV film “Filthy Gorgeous,” starring Isabella Rossellini, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Eva Simon. In the Showtime comedy/drama she played the role of Nadia Godo. She   

Following guest appearances on CBS's “CSI: NY” (2007, playing Mia Opal) and Fox's “Unhitched” (2008, playing Chloe), Paly landed a recurring role on the USA Network short lived television series “The Starter Wife” (2008), starring Debra Messing. She played Lola in five episodes. Still in 2008, Paly appeared as Archeologist in “The Ruins,” a horror film directed by Carter Smith and starring Jonathan Tucker, Shawn Ashmore, Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, and Joe Anderson, and was featured along with Stana Katic, Tom Berenger and Paul Sloan in the action/crime film “Stiletto.”

Paly played Natalia in an episode of “How I Met Your Mother” called “Rabbit or Duck” (2010) and Tatiana in two episodes of “ Underemployed,” including the pilot episode (2012). She also made a guest appearance in “Game Shop” (2012). She appeared with Maria Bertrand, Meshach Taylor and DaJuan Johnson in the horror film “Hyenas” (2011), which was helmed and written by Eric Weston, portrayed Maria-Carla in “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” (2012), a  comedy film directed, written and produced by Roman Coppola and starring Charlie Sheen, Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Katheryn Winnick and Patricia Arquette, and co-starred as Sorina Luminita in “Pain & Gain” (2013), a crime-comedy film directed by Michael Bay and starring Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson and Anthony Mackie.  

In 2014, Paly was cast as Iris Marianne in the Jaume Collet-Serra directed mystery/action film “Non-Stop,” starring Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Michelle Dockery, Lupita Nyong'o and Scoot McNairy, and as Lisette in “Million Dollar Arm,” a biographical sports drama film directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay written by Tom McCarthy.

Paly will portray the role of Lauren De Isigney on the  Mark Polis upcoming film “Headlock,” also starring Dianna Agron and Andy Garcia, appear with  Marisa Tomei, Brie Larson and Daniel Radcliffe in the Judd Apatow comedy “Trainwreck,” which is set to be released on July 24, 2015, and co-star with  Pierce Brosnan, Alexis Knapp, Ashley Greene, Justin Chatwin, Danny Masterson, Chris Geere, Nick Thune and James DeBello in the Aaron Kaufman thriller movie “Urge” (2015).
