Ty Treadway is an American actor and television host perhaps best known as the host of “SoapTalk,” a talk show that ran on SOAPnet between 2002 and 2006. He collected four Daytime Emmy nominations for his work on the show, which he shared with Lisa Rinna. He also hosted the NBC game show “Crosswords” (2007-2008). On the acting front, Treadway has appeared in the daytime soap operas “One Life to Live” and “Days of Our Lives” as well as in the primetime shows “Dirty Sexy Money,” “JAG” and “Cold Case.” He also acted in the independent films “Heaven & the Suicide King” (1998) and “...Or Forever Hold Your Peace” (2001).

Treadway has two children with his wife Monica Surratt. He enjoys cooking and food.

Childhood and Family:

Tyrus Richard Treadway, who would later be popular as Ty Treadway, was born on February 11, 1967, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Richard and Mary Lou Treadway. He is the youngest of seven kids. After high school, Ty earned a scholarship in soccer and enrolled at Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He later transferred to the College of New Jersey. After completing his accounting degree, Ty worked at the New Jersey State Legislature as an accountant and computer systems engineer. He also participated in bodybuilding competitions and in 1994, won the title of Mr. Natural Pennsylvania. Ty eventually left his accounting job to pursue modeling and acting.

On September 9, 2003, Ty married Monica Surratt. The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Samantha Raine, on February 1, 2005. Their second child, son Ryder, was born on March 7, 2006.


One Life to Live

Career:

After an accounting stint in New Jersey, Ty Treadway began modeling in New York and appeared on the comer of GQ magazine and in commercials. His professional acting debut arrived in 1998 when he landed the lead role of Tommy Tucker on the independent thriller movie “Heaven & the Suicide King,” which was directed and written by Todd A. Spoor. He went on to appear as a repairman in a 1999 episode of “Just Shoot Me!” called “Jack Vents.”

Treadway's first big breakthrough arrived in May 2000 when he won the role of Dr. Colin MacIver on the ABC soap opera “One Life to Live.” The character, however, was killed off after a year. He returned to the series as his nicer twin brother, Troy, in 2001 and would appear on and off again until 2004.

In 2001, Treadway starred with Chris Coyne and Keith Coogan on Kenneth August's dramatic comedy “...Or Forever Hold Your Peace.” He was then cast as a male prostitute on Darin Ferriola's film “Soulkeeper,” starring Rodney Rowland, Kevin Patrick Walls and Robert Davi. He also starred in the short film “I/O Error” by Michael Feit Dougan.

Treadway enjoyed his next success on television when he was hired to host the SOAPnet talk show “SoapTalk” with Lisa Rinna (2002). He remained with the show until it was canceled in 2006 and shared four Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Talk Show Host for his work on the show.

During his stint on “SoapTalk,” Treadway guest starred in the TV series “JAG” and “Cold Case” (both 2005). The following year, he hosted the reality TV “Battle of the Wedding Singers” and the first episode of “American Idol Extra.” The same year, he also appeared as John in an episode of “Rodney” called “Where the Rubber Meets the Road.”

From 2007 to 2008, Treadway was the host of the game show “Crosswords” on NBC. In 2008, he guest starred as Pete Bradley in an episode of “Dirty Sexy Money” called “The Organ Donor” (2008).

In September 2010, Treadway began his recurring role of Dr. Ben Walters on the long running soap “Days of Our Lives.” His contract ended in February 2011.
