The Bachelorette Background: Trista Rehn is famous as the star of the first season of “The Bachelorette” (2003), a spin off of the competitive reality dating game show “The Bachelor.” In addition to fame, “The Bachelorette” also brought her a Teen Choice nomination for Choice TV Reality/Variety Star – Female and a husband, Ryan Sutter, the final bachelor chosen by Trista. The couple are still married and have two children together.
Childhood and Family: An only child, Trista Nicole Rehn was born on October 28, 1972, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents Stan and Roseanne. Her family moved to St. Lois when she was four years old, but her parents divorced when she was 11. Trista, nicknamed Triscuit, grew up as an extroverted tomboy who excelled in swimming, softball and soccer. She graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Exercise Science and then went on to pursue her Masters degree at the University of Miami. On December 6, 2003, Trista married Colorado firefighter Ryan Sutter (born September 14, 1974), who was the winner chosen by Trista Rehn on the TV show “The Bachelorette.” The couple have one son, Maxwell “Max” Alston Sutter (born July 26, 2007) and one daughter, Blakesley Grace Sutter (born April 3, 2009).
Career: Prior to entering showbiz, Trista Rehn spent two years as dancer/cheerleader for the NBA team Miami Heat. During this period, she also worked full time as physical therapist at Miami Children’s Hospital. In 2002, she stepped into television spotlight when she became a contestant on the first season of the ABC reality television dating game show “The Bachelor.” She ended up becoming the runner up after bachelor Alex Michel, a management consultant, chose Amanda Marsh as the winner in front of Trista in the show's final. In January 2003, Trista was selected to star in the gender-reversed spin off show “The Bachelorette,” for which she was given the opportunities to choose a husband among 25 bachelor. She eventually chose Ryan Shutter, and their wedding was aired in December 2003 on ABC as the finale of a three episode special called “Trista & Ryan's Wedding,” which attracted over 26 million audiences and became one of the most watched programs in the reality television history. Trista was nominated for a 2003 Teen Choice in the category of Choice TV Reality/Variety Star - Female for her appearance on the show. After her appearances in “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” Trista has appeared in many television shows such as “According to Jim” (2003), “The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn” (2003), “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” (2003), “The Oprah Winfrey Show” ( (2003), “The View” (2003), “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (2003), “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest” (2004), “Fear Factor” (2005), “Good Morning America” (2005), “Lingo” (2005), “The Megan Mullally Show” (2006), “Ellen: The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (2008), “Entertainment Tonight” (2008), “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” (2009) and “Rachael Ray” (2011). She served as a guest co-host on “Good Day Live” from 2003 to 2004 and was a celebrity contestant on the season 1 of the ABC dance competition show “Dancing with the Stars” (2005). She was a judge on ABC's “Bachelor Pad,” an elimination two hour style American reality television game show that debuted on August 9, 2010. Trista also appeared in a television commercial for Kentucky Fried Chicken in 2003, with Jason Alexander, and in print ads for Corr-Jensen Labs' Abdominal Cuts dietary supplements in 2008. In 2010, as Trista Sutter, she appeared in an infomercial, hosted by Kym Douglas, for the “NuBrilliance” microdermabrasion system. Recently, in June 2011, Trista and her husbandappeared in a Hands Only CPR PSA campaign from the American Heart Association and the Ad Council.
