SummaryAdapted Perfectly
Content
Never have I seen a movie so perfectly adapted from its original text. Frank Darabont took Stephen King's masterpiece and somehow got every little detail onto film. Not just because his script is very true to King's writings, but aslo through the emotions he presents the visuals he use. I have never seen a director do as much justice to a book as in this film. The main reason why is he uses the gift of vision to somehow engage the imagination as good as the written word doing what no director, especially of a Stephen King adaptation, has been able to do. I read "The Shining" then saw the movie and while it was good the book was just better in that it get into every little detail and expressed the depth of the story rather than just the surface story. But here I went book then movie and was stunned that the movie was just as good and just as powerful. The main reason was the performances. Tom Hanks, David Morse and others give terrificc performances as always, along with other actors. But the movie would not have been near as impactful if they had not found the right John Coffey. Michael Clarke Duncan was the only man for the job. He possesses Coffey's size and heighth but he also amazingly possesses Coffey's beautiful pure innocence. His performance alone brought me to tears. He was John Coffey. If you have read the book see the movie and see for yourself. It's amazing. You will not be let down at all.

SummaryLets be real for a moment
Content
This movie has one major flaw that I just can't let go of. It's not the magical "nigger" angle that has me upset(but I will admit that after The Stand, Bagger Vance, The Family Man , and this movie I am sick of that theme). I have a problem with the opening sequence. It is completely unreal to believe that this big sobbing negro that is holding two raped and murdered little white girls would have ever made it to trial. Lets be real for a moment. That wasn't a search party that was a lynch mob. Those guys had hounds, ropes, fire, and all sorts of blunt instruments and sharp tools. Not to mention this was the deep south in the 1930's. Am I suppose to believe that they read him his rights and arrested him in a peaceful way. This was a time that a black man would be lynched for looking a white woman in the eyes, so there's no way he would have made it out of that field. They walk him into prison with out a scratch on his body. I don't care how big he was he would have been chopped to pieces and after that they would have stood around and taken pictures. Don't believe me look in the history books it happened all the time back then for lesser crimes than what they thought he did.
Alot of people compare this to Shawshank and these movies aren't even in the same league. Shawshank was a classic

SummaryOne of the best...
Content
Director Frank Darabont has a definite connection with the writing of Stephen King, re-writing them into concise and compelling films (think "Shawshank"). Other reviewers have blabbed away the magnificent plot, and everyone knows how wonderfully Michael Clark Duncan played JC. The entire ensemble cast was excellent, without exception. Tom Hanks is powerful in the lead, and strong performances from Sam Rockwell, Michael Jeter, Graham Greene, Harry Dean Stanton, Barry Pepper, Jeffrey de Munn, and David Morse are all, individually, brilliant, and added to ensemble brilliance. Special mention must go to Doug Hutchinson's performance as the wimp. He was a nastier person than any of the guys on Death Row; that rotten little bully we've all known at one time or another, because he had "connections".It was, I thought, a courageous performance. Most unappreciated are the women; Bonnie Hunt is the ultimate devoted wife, and Patricia Clarkson will totally blow you away with her display of simplicity, insanity and renewal. At 3 hours, "The Green Mile" never fails to keep your attention. I love it.

SummaryMorgan's review
Content
This movie is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. If you like this movie you should also see Shawshank Redemption. Both these movies are directed by Frank Darabont.
Plot: Tom Hanks is in charge of the prisoners sentenced for execution. Tom Hanks has a new prisoner by the name of John Coffey(Michael Clarke Duncan). Coffey was found with two dead girls in his arms and is sentenced for execution. While prisoner, Coffey helps Tom Hanks with his medical problem. Coffey has a special power to heal or give life to the dead. Coffey is not seen as a bad guy but as a real life saver in the eyes of Tom Hanks. The ending of this film is depressing. I love the mouse Mr. Jingles. In this movie they call him "A Circus Mouse."

SummaryEXCELLENT MOVIE/Guaranteed to shed a tear!!!
Content
An OUTSTANDING film, The Green Mile, follows the life of a prison guard at Cold Mountain Penitentiary in the 1930's. That life is going to change when a new inmate arrives and is placed on death row...
It is a film about human relations, hope and second chances, but most importantly about trust, faith, friendship, and inner strength.
Moreover, there are some obvious elements of the X-Files that can be seen throughout the film.
Tom Hanks, Michael Duncan, and the rest of the cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are extraordinary to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)! Very well written and very well presented, it is an entertaining film that can be watched over and over again. The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music are all wonderful!
In short, The Green Mile is a movie definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection (if you haven't already done so)!
