The popularity she gained sent her to other big-budget movies, playing the role of Sheena in Sheena (1984) and portraying Bond girl Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill (1985).

However, her portrayal and roles in the films caused her to be nominated for Worst Actress at the Razzie Awards in 1984 and 1985.

Off screen, Tanya, who took 5 years of voice training to get the Bronx out of her voice, is currently the wife of screenwriter Barry Roberts.

Childhood and Family:

Daughter of an Irish-born father (pen salesman) and Jewish mother (divorced before Tanya attended high school), Victoria Leigh Blum, who later would be known as Tanya Roberts, was born on October 15, 1954, in The Bronx, New York. Dropping out from high school, 15-year-old Tanya married and traveled around the country with her husband until her mother-in-law had the marriage annulled. She then returned to New York.

Finding her interest lay with acting, Tanya studied under the guidance of Lee Strasberg and Uta Hagen. During her early years in New York, Tanya worked as an Arthur Murray dance instructor and also modeled for television commercials. She then appeared in off-Broadway productions.

As for her private life, 5' 8" inch tall Tanya, who is an animal lover, married writer Barry Roberts shortly after the annulment of her first marriage. The couple currently lives in Los Angeles. Being asked about her marriage, she said, "We have been together over 20 years. I'm not really sure, we don't celebrate anniversaries. I feel it only leads to divorce. Barry and I are best pals. We're both physical people and have similar interests. Yet, Barry does not like golf!"

Career:

"Even if I get thrown out of Hollywood, I'll come back. It took me 14 years to get where I am. I'm going to hang in there." Tanya Robert

Starting out as a dance instructor, Tanya Robert wanted to pursue a modeling career professionally. 17-year-old Tanya appeared in several television commercials for products like Ultra Brite, Clairol and Cool Ray sunglasses. While working as a model, Tanya also honed in on her acting talent by appearing on such off-Broadway productions as Picnic, Antigone, Bus Stop and Born Yesterday. When bitten by the acting bug, she moved to Hollywood (with her husband) to focus on her acting career.

In 1975, Tanya eventually debuted on screen by starring in the thriller Forced Entry, playing the role of Nancy Ulman. She then appeared in such projects as The Yum-Yum Girls (1976), The Private Files of J. Edgar Hoover (1977), Fingers (1978), Tourist Trap (1979), California Dreaming (1979) and Racquet (1979). Adding to her acting experience, Tanya also worked for the NBC comedy Zuma Beach (1978) and Pleasure Cove (1979), and the ABC detective drama Waikiki (1980).

Tanya received her big break when she portrayed sexy private investigator Julie Rogers in the final season of ABC's crime drama Charlie's Angels (1980-1981). At the same time, she also posed for the cover of People Magazine (2/9/81).

Her popularity as an angel helped her win a leading role in the blockbuster hit The Beastmaster (1982). Tanya nude pose for Playboy magazine helped The Beastmaster become one of the biggest hits in 1982.

After playing roles in Murder Me, Murder You (1983,TV) and Paladini - storia d'armi e d'amori, I (1983), Tanya made a wrong decision by starring in Sheena (1984). Though the film went to the box office, Tanya was nominated for Worst Actress at the Razzie Awards. The following year, she was lucky to be cast as Bond girl Stacey Sutton in Roger Moore's final entry, A View To a Kill (1985). However, the role brought her another nomination for Worst Actress at the Razzie Awards.

She was then seen in the forgettable Body Slam (1987) and Purgatory (1988).

In 1990, Tanya had two wide screen projects, Twisted Justice and Night Eyes, before portraying Rikki Rennick in Legal Tender (1991, written by her husband) and having the starring role as sexy nurse Lynn Foster in Inner Sanctum (1991). The subsequent year, Tanya starred in the comedy Almost Pregnant (1992). After appearing in Sins of Desire (1993), Tanya played the role of Charlotte in Deep Down (1994) and was seen as Rebecca in Hot Line (1994, TV) as well as made a guest appearance in an episode of the mystery remake TV series Burke's Law (1994). Tanya then played herself in an episode of the Showtime TV movie National Lampoon's Favorite Deadly Sins (1995) and lent her voice for the video game The Pandora Directive (1996).

Tanya next could be seen on the small screen when she won an on-going role in That '70s Show (1998-2001), playing the character of Midge Pinciotti. After disappearing from the screen, Tanya made her return in 2004 as a reoccurring guest on FOX's That '70s Show. Recently, she also appeared as a guest in the series Eve (2005).
