Sell This House
Canadian born television host and actress Tanya Memme is perhaps most known to reality TV fans as the host of the Daytime Emmy nominating series “Sell This House” from 2003 to 2008. Her hosting gigs also include “Robotica” (2001), “9 On The Town” (2004) and “Move This House” (2005). As an actress, she has appeared in television series “Melrose Place,” “JAG,” “CSI: Miami” and “The Practice.” She co-produced and starred in the film “Terror Inside” (2008).
Memme is a lament traveler and a die hard fan of Oprah Winfrey. She has participated in a 420-mile bike ride from Montreal, Quebec to Portland to raise finances for AIDS. She has given motivational speeches in high schools.
Childhood and Family:
Tanya Lynn Memme, nicknamed T, was born on June 15, 1971, in Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada, to an Italian Catholic family. She began taking jazz, tap and ballet lessons at age 7. She was educated at Denis Morris Catholic High School in St. Catharines and later moved to New York City, where she attended the esteemed American Musical & Dramatic Academy. Her friend, Meredith Patterson, also studied with her at the academy.
Tanya Memme began in the beauty pageant circuits in her native Canada in the early 1990s. She became the winner of Miss Niagara in 1991 and was a contestant in the Miss Canada, the following year. In 1993, she placed the third runner up at the Miss Canadian Universe and was crowned Miss World Canada as well. As the winner of Miss World Canada, she went on to compete at the 1993 Miss World Pageant in Sun City, South Africa.
An alum of NYC's American Musical and Dramatic Academy, Memme made her American film debut with a small role as trader's assistant in the Tim Allen comedy vehicle “Jungle 2 Jungle” (1997), helmed by John Pasquin. The next year, she made a guest appearance in the television series “Melrose Place,” appearing as female lab tech.
In 2001, Memme became the host of “Robotica,” alongside Dan Danknick and Ahmet Zappa. She went on to appear in the game show “Casino” (2002) and the news show “DirecTV Customer News” (2002) as well as guest star in “JAG,” “CSI: Miami” and “The Practice” (all also 2002).
In 2003, Memme began hosting “Sell This House,” a daytime reality-TV series on the A&E television network where the host and designer Roger Hazard help homeowners who find problem in selling their houses. The show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Program. Memme would remain with her duty until 2008.
In 2004, Memme co-hosted “9 On The Town” on CBS 2. In 2005, she hosted A&E's “Move This House.” The same year, she played the role of Jenny in the comedy film “Repetition” (2005), directed and co-written by Dennis Burkley.
In 2008, Memme had an uncredited part in “Visioneers,” a comedy film helmed by Jared Drake and written by Brandon Drake and starring Zach Galifianakis and Judy Greer. The same year, she also starred as Maria in Joe G. Lenders' thriller, “Terror Inside,” opposite Corey Feldman. The film also marked her debut as co-producer.
