SummaryWay better than I expected it to be!
Content
When I rented this movie I knew it got a lot of bad reviews and a few good ones. I thought I would hate it. BUT I DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!! There were more cool fighters in it, and I loved the way that my favorite MK fighter of all time, namely Scorpion, came back from the dead, too! And there was much emotion and love and rage in this movie too. I loved the many fights and the happy ending. Here are the pros and cons, as far as I'm concerned: OK, here we go now!!!!!

Pros:

Scorpion appears in it and puts up a good fight against Subby. He also manages to capture Kitana. Way to go, yellow ninja. His nasty spears were cool, too. And don't forget: "Get over here!"

The second Sub-Zero, who is actually my real # 2 favorite fighter next to Scorpion(not his older brother in the first one)shows up with a very cool costume. He also fights well-only against Scorp.

Kitana does much more fighting and gets in far more licks. She also uses her fans this time. And boy, can she use those fans!

Reptile and Raiden appear again, and both leave quite a mark. Each in his own way of fighting and determination, of course.

Liu Kang is back, and he is as brave, ferocious, and cool as he ever was. The Bruce Lee of Mortal Kombat does some Bruce Leeing!

Mileena, one of the best MK villains of all time, attacks and she really does do quite well for someone with only a little screen time. I love her moves and nastiness. Nice pair of sais, too!

Sindel is shown as a hot babe with a lot of makeup, and she does very well in fighting before being "cured" of evil. That's all I'll say.

Night Wolf, who I think is OK as an MK fighter, does pretty well, and helps Liu Kang a lot in terms of how to destroy evil forces.

Baraka, my second favorite Mortal Kombat villain next to Reptile, is shown as a vile and ugly scum and puts up a good fight with his fists, feet, and blades. Just like any true villain should.

Shao Kahn is a perfect tyrant of a villain, and he puts up plenty a tussle in the finale of the movie I am reviewing right now.

Ermac, who is pretty good a ninja in the game, doesn't do too shabby in the end of this movie, his one fight scene.

Motaro, an OK villain, leaves a mark like nothing else in the last half hour of the movie.

Jax, who didn't get a chance to fight in the first, dons his arms and beats about some ninja soldiers and a couple of large bosses.

There are many memorable moments and quotes throughout the movie.

Sonya is back, and she's angrier and fiercer than ever!

There is a very happy ending. I like that, even in fight movies.

Smoke, a cool robot ninja, fights well against Kitana and Liu.

Cons:

Jade(who I adore as a heroine in the game)is insulted and utterly disrespected as she is shown as a villainess who eventually gets eaten by some sort of deranged monster. What's wrong with you people, anyway? JADE IS A HERO! YOU DO NOT TURN A HERO EVIL!!!!!

Scorpion, my favorite MK fighter ever, gets the same sort of diss as described above. In the game, he's a hero, just like Jade, but in this movie, he's shown to be on the bad side. As said before, YOU DO NOT TAKE A HERO AND TURN HIM/HER EVIL! IT'S SO TWISTED!!! Plus, he doesn't get all that much screen time or a chance to use his hellfire. Some people just have no respect or manners. Pleah.

Sub-Zero doesn't get much screen time either. Since he's my # 2 favorite fighter next to Scorpion(him, not his older brother) I think you can guess why this ticks me off big time. Puke & Ugh.

Rain appears in this movie. I hate Rain. He sucks and is the worst ninja ever. Thank God he gets thrown in the fire. DEAD.

Sheeva, who is OK as a villainess, only gets a few opportunities to fight. It rocks that she gets her licks in, but she needs a lot more screen time. If she can get any.

Johnny Cage dies in the beginning. You do not kill one of the best heroes ever within 15 minutes of the movie. Big bummer.

Raiden loses all his powers until the end of the movie. That is a very bad insult to an Elder God, Mr. Director. Don't do it again.

Cyrax, who I like OK as a hero, is shown as a villain. What?

Overall, this was a cool movie and I liked it a lot. Anybody who likes Mortal Kombat or action movies should definitely see it.

SummaryIt's a disgrace!
Content
The success of the first movie must have made the makers of this one extra cocky and, as a result, made little effort in this one.

Possibly the worst part of this film is all that was missing which should have been there. Let's start with Shao Kahn's father, the elder god Shinnok. He has NO introduction and I have no idea who he is and why he does what he does(he actually should have been introduced in the first movie). There is no explanation as to why Shao Kahn thinks he can get away with breaking the sacred rules of the tournament and there is little explanation from the elder gods as to how Kahn got away with it ("we do not control the destiny of man". Some questions viewers might ask are "How is Kitana the key to stopping Kahn?", "How did resurrecting Sindel keep Kahn's gateways open?" or "How did Scorpion return after being destroyed in the original?". There is practically no explanation for these and other mysteries, which totally ruins the movie.

Another bummer about this movie is how poorly cast Shao Kahn is. It's not that Brian Thompson did a bad job, it's just that he soooo did not fit the part. Kahn is supposed to be big and intimidating. This guy is just an ordinary-looking bald man who is dwarfed by his followers (see the part where they each of the followers are trying to convince Kahn to let them become his general). Kahn looked somewhat intimidating with his mask on but only in two parts was he actually wearing it, which totally did not portray him as a lethal adversary.

When Raiden sees the "cybernetic strength enhancers" that Jax wore, he asks, "What's the deal with your arms?" I would ask Jax, "What's the deal with your character?" Jax is supposed to be a major, which should mean he is a real professional. But he is a punk in this movie. He acts totally immature and soooo unlike the Jax we know from the game or even the prequel to this movie. I suppose that this is more the fault of the writers than the actor but still this character is not Jax.

There are only a few things the makers did right. First of all, the movie has a very dark and unpleasant atmosphere, very unlike the first and that is a must for this movie. It is always good to make the sequel different from the original. Second, at the beginning, I sensed a feeling of hopelessness for the earth realm in that I could see how disadvantaged the earth realm warriors were in facing what was against them. It made me wonder how they could possibly win in the end. Also, the soundtrack was great because it seemed nearly every piece of music was appropriate for each situation. But with all the things that the makers did wrong, these good things hardly stand ou at all.

Most viewers would probably see this movie as one lame scene after another, with little creativity in the action and lousy dialogue. It is most obvious that the makers put little effort into this film and it shows. There are too many downsides to this movie (I have not mentioned all of them), which is why I call this movie a disgrace.

SummaryDestroy all Expectations
Content
I'm not really a kid, I just use the kid review so I don't have to get an Amazon account. Anyways, this has to be the worst movie of all time. I must admit that I enjoyed it at the time of its release, being a kid. This movie is packed to the brim with terrible effects, crappy costumes, and a most retarded story. Only 2 out of the 6 main characters were the same actors from the first movie. What's the problem here, you may wonder? They spent too damn much money on the soundtrack. Trying to liscense songs by Megadeth and Rage Against the Machine (now audioslave) should not be exchanged with a shoestring effects budget. THOSE MORONS!!! This movie is good for a few laughs and bringing back memories of the good old days of 1997. If you must buy it, buy it for fun, not content.

SummaryHow is this soo much worse than the first??
Content
It boggles my mind how this movie sucked so bad compared to the first. I thought the first movie was a hit. After all, it was a low budget movie, yet the special effects were great, the plot was on point, the acting was decent, and it was successful in the box office. This one on the other hand was a complete flop. The special effects made me laugh...it looked so fake! You would think that a couple of years later the technology would be better. They put all these characters from the game but no one really cared because there was know character development at all. They only appeared for about 2 minutes each. It just doesn't make sense how this movie could be soo much worse. You would think they would get a bigger budget for this movie from the success of the first one instead of putting this crap on screen. I wish The same director who did the first one did this one.

SummarySpecial Effects Beauty
Content
It is hard to describe this movie other than to say it is full of very nice but predictable fight scenes. I'd say one of the only reasons to really watch it is for the amazing special effects seen in sub-zero's brother's ice spell.

He casts an ice bridge, and I swear I felt like I could cast that spell too, it doesn't look computer animated or anything!

Another reason is that it's mortal kombat, and mortal kombat is beautiful.
