Crossing Jordan Background: Scottish actor Steve Valentine is perhaps most popular for his portrayal of Dr. Nigel Townsend on the NBC series “Crossing Jordan” (2001-2007). Valentine was also a member of the cast of the television series “I'm in the Band” (2009-2011) and appeared in the films “Mars Attacks” (1996), “Trojan War” (1997), “The Muse” (1999), “Return to the Secret Garden” (2000), “I Dead End” (2003), “Spider-Man 3” (2007) and “A Christmas Carol” (2009). In addition, Valentine is a professional magician. As for his personal life, Valentine was married to Shari Valentine between 1989 and 2005. He is now married to actress Inna Korobkina, who is 15 years her junior.
Childhood and Family: Steve John Valentine was born on October 26, 1966, in Bishopbriggs, Scotland. Prior to becoming an actor, he worked as a DJ in Yugoslavia when he was 18 years old. On August 2, 1989, Steve married Shari Valentine. They divorced in December 2005. Steve is currently married to Russian actress Inna Korobkina (born February 23, 1981). During his leisure time, Steve enjoys dancing, horseback riding and riding roller coasters.
Career: Steve Valentine made his first television appearance as Andy (hypnotist/magician) on “Night Stand with Dick Dietrick” (1995). In October 1995, he landed a guest starring role in an episode of the Fox sitcom “Married with Children” called “The Weaker Sex.” The same year, he also appeared in a short film titled “Seagate,” which was directed and written by Erick Ifergan. Valentine continued to make guest appearances in many television shows during the 1990s, such as “Melrose Place” (1996), “Men Behaving Badly” (1997), “Silk Stalkings” (1997), “Promised Land” (1998), “Diagnosis Murder” (1998), “Martial Law” (1998), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (1998), “Good vs Evil” (1999), “JAG” (1999) and “Will & Grace” (1999). His first feature film roles arrived in 1996 when he was cast as Dr. Blight on “Santa with Muscles,” a comedy starring professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, and as a TV director on “Mars Attacks,” a science fiction film directed by Tim Burton that starred Jack Nicholson, Lukas Haas, Annette Bening, Jim Brown, Pierce Brosnan, Sarah Jessica Parker, Glenn Close, Martin Short, Michael J. Fox, Jack Black, Natalie Portman, Danny DeVito and Christina Applegate. Valentine next appeared in the George Huang directed film “Trojan War” (1997), starring Will Friedle, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Marley Shelton, played the supporting role of Ood Leader on the direct to video release “The Shrunken City” (1998), starring Michael Malota, Agnes Bruckner and Jules Mandel, worked with Melanie Lynskey, Wil Wheaton and Corin Nemec on Mark Tapio Kines's award winning drama “Foreign Correspondents” (1999), and appeared in the comedy “The Muse” (1999). Also in 1999, the former DJ made his TV movie debut in the Disney Channel Original Movie “Don't Look Under the Bed,” opposite Erin Chambers, Jake Sakson, Eric “Ty” Hodges II, Robin Riker and Stephen Tobolowsky. In 2000, Valentine appeared as an agent in the film “King of the Open Mics,” starring Eric Edwards, Bill Torres and Brian Lally, and costarred with Mercedes Kastner, Michelle Horn and Josh Zuckerman on the family film “Return to the Secret Garden,” by director Scott Featherstone. The same year, he also landed guest spots in many TV shows, such as “V.I.P.,” “Providence,” “Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction,” “The Geena Davis Show,” “The Hughleys” and “Dharma & Greg” and played a recurring role on The WB's sitcom “Nikki” (16 episodes from 2000 until 2001). Valentine's big breakthrough came when he landed the main character of forensic technician Dr. Nigel Townsend on the series “Crossing Jordan,” opposite Jill Hennessy as Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh, Miguel Ferrer as Dr. Garret Macy, Ravi Kapoor as Dr. Mahesh “Bug” Vijay, Kathryn Hahn as Lily Lebowski, and Jerry O'Connell as Detective Woody Hoyt. Created by Tim Kring, the show ran on NBC from September 24, 2001, until May16, 2007. Valentine appeared in all 117 episodes. During this time, Valentine also worked on other projects. He guest starred on episodes of “Charmed” (2001), “Just Shoot Me” (2001), “FreakyLinks” (2001), “Boston Legal” (2006), “The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman” (2006) and “Stacked” (2006). On the big screen, he appeared with Jaime Gomez, Seidy Lopez and Zach Galligan on Vincent Jay Miller's “Gabriela” (2001), portrayed the role of the Man in Black in “I Dead End” (2003), a horror film directed by Jean-Baptiste Andrea and Fabrice Canep, and had a small role on the blockbuster “Spider-Man 3” (2007), which was directed by Sam Raimi. Following the cancellation of “Crossing Jordan,” Valentine guest starred as Flynn in an episode of “House M.D.” called “You Don't Want to Know,” which aired November 20, 2007. 2008 saw him appear in episodes of “The Middleman” and “Chuck” as well as play the roles of Miles Delaney on the comedy film “Remembering Phil,” starring Nicholas Turturro, Christina Murphy and Joanne Kelly. He also portrayed Max on the short “Silent Night Bloody Night.” In 2009, Valentine was cast as singer Derek Jupiter on the slapstick sitcom “I'm in the Band,” opposite Logan Miller, Stephen Full, Greg Baker and Caitlyn Taylor Love. The show premiered on the Disney XD on November 27, 2009. He also guest starred in episodes of “Monk” (2009), “Drop Dead Diva” (2009) and “The Good Guys” (2010) and appeared in the television films “ Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie “ (2009), starring Selena Gomez, David Henrie and Jake T. Austin, and Disney Channel's “Avalon High” (2010), starring Britt Robertson, Gregg Sulkin, Joey Pollari and Devon Graye. In addition, he appeared in the feature film “A Christmas Carol” (2009), which was directed and scripted by Robert Zemeckis and starred Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman and Colin Firth. While acting on “I’m in the Band,” Valentine was recently an announcer on a 2011 episode of “Cougar Town” called “You're Gonna Get It.”
