SummarySorry I missed your b-day party, wasn't invited
Content
If your a fan of The Jerk, just relax, eat the popcorn and forget about your worries. This is not a Academy award winning film but it will make you laugh and realise how lucky you are to be loved. Very dry straightforward laughs, but very funny in the least. Hey, come on, the first time your name was in the phone book you didn't check?.....Two losers trying to find themselves in society can be very funny and a bit forgiving. Everyone has been there at one point, not quite as bad as these guys, but hey, it is Steve Martin, (The Jerk), expect stupidity and goofiness. This film drags a little toward the end but watching Larry and Warrens relationship grow is something to admire, not all people are lucky to have a ton a friends, great film, and no, I'm not a lonley guy, been married 13 years. Enjoy the film.

SummaryShocked and disappointed
Content
I consider myself a Steve Martin fan. I love the movies L.A. Story and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I have read Steve Martin's books and would highly recommend them. However, with the exception of "The Jerk", this movie collection is terrible. I enjoy watching The Jerk and think of it as a classic. As for the other two movies, I had to struggle to sit through them and I will not be watching them again.

SummaryAwful!!!
Content
This film is supposed to be comedy, but Martin's character comes across as just plain creepy! I was hoping that a ten-ton safe would fall on the Larry Hubbard character, or that Godzilla would suddenly appear and turn him into a pile of smoking cinders with a jetlike column of fire. That way, he would be put out of his misery and it would be easier to sympathize with him. As it were, the Hubbard character comes across like a sexless zombie in a double-knit suit. Watching this film was embarrassing, tiring and a waste of time.

SummarySteve Martin and Charles Grodin rule in this!
Content
I know a lot of people who have never seen this movie. I always tell them they have to see it. It's absolutely hilarious.

One of my favorite scenes is when Warren (Charles Grodin) practices saying "Hello" before answering his phone. Very funny stuff!

Grodin is so great in this movie. It's definitely one of my favorite performances by him.

SummarySteve Martin's Dark Humor
Content
A satirical film on social alienation and how those who are socially challenged compensate for their deficiencies. This film is probably Steve Martin's darkest comedy not too unlike the later released dark humor film 'The Cable Guy' starring Jim Carey and Mathew Broderick.

In this film, Steve Martin plays a down-and-out professional who can't seem to even start a conversation with a girl much less have a date with one. Instead, he passes his time having imaginary parties while striking up conversations with cardboard cut-out images of people. His monotonous life is accompanied with the equally pathetic life of Charles Grodin's character.

Again, this is probably the darkest humor Steve Martin ever presented on film but it's still a great comedy. If you didn't like the theme or subject of 'The Cable Guy', then you probably won't enjoy this film either.
