SummaryIf Truman Capote wrote softcore skin flicks
Content
...quick, think of as many Southern (by this I mean American Deep South) stereotypes as you can. Now imagine a series of down-side-of-their-career actors (and I'm talking Oscar winners, here...Louise Fletcher, Burl Ives) supporting then-unknowns Sherilyn Fenn and Richard Tyson whose main selling points are that they look absolutely smoking hot wearing nothing at all with the proper lighting and a hint of vaseline on the camera lens.

With that in mind, I shamelessly offer this, the only softcore movie that I think enough of to actually own. It's basically a trashy romance novel come to life...the plot is as predictable as anyone could ever expect, and character development is...well, there IS a reason for nudity in a film like this, after all. The love scenes are of course scorching hot and terrifically filmed (Zalman King could be considered the Francis Ford Coppola of this genre, after all), and Richard Tyson is so completely over-the-top as a carnival worker with a SERIOUS Jim Morrison complex that it is hard not to be entertained. Kristy McNicol provides a mild diversion (as well as fashion tips involving rouge and angora sweaters that should be helpful to SOMEONE), the aforementioned Ives and Fletcher are suitably (if not unintentionally comically) menacing, and just when you think things couldn't possibly get any stranger there's Herve Villechaize as a cheapskate traveling carnival owner and all of a sudden we're watching MTV's "The Surreal Life", except the nude scenes aren't blurred out this time.

"Two Moon Junction" is campy, trashy, perhaps even exploitative, but it is also quite accomplished within its genre. You're probably not watching this with the hope of experiencing master thespianism (that's THESPianism) anyway, so sit back, unplug your brain for an hour and a half, and take it all in. And don't worry about watching this as a "date movie", either...I have yet to meet a woman who hasn't seen this movie and who doesn't like it at least as much as I do. That alone should be sufficient recommendation for you to check it out.

SummaryOk for its purpose...
Content
The acting was good, sex scenes were ok. The only thing I didn't understand was why the lead actress had to cry after every time she had sex. That seemed to ruin the climactic moment that had only happened a few seconds before. As for the actors, she was hot, he was not. Enough said. The music was loud in parts and often crude when it shouldn't have been. I still can't tell who she married in the end. She's in the shower and the carny guy she had hooked up with, walked in and she had a ring on. Did she marry her fiance or the carny? I'm inclined to the fiance. If you're watching this movie for one reason, and who isn't, then yes I would say it was worth it. Just be sure your fast forward button works for some parts.

SummaryNot horrible
Content
This movie has some, er, sentimental value to me, since the two moon junction scene was the first sex scene I ever saw -- and, since I was 7 or 8 at the time, it was also (IIRC) my introduction to the idea of sex (or at least naked people kissing ;) ).

In any case, based on a vague memory of that scene and the word "junction" I found this movie again and wanted to see it. The best I can say for it, though, is that it's not horrible. The sex scenes are not bad at all, but they're not exactly great, either.

As a movie experience (vs. a soft porn experience), the movie spends quite a bit of time building April's angst at going into a life that she isn't crazy about but that her whole family wants and expects her to go into. It sets her up to make a difficult choice between what is "best" for her -- a marriage to a successful but plain "company man" fiancé -- and her libidinous attraction to a muscly carnival worker, a drunken pig with a heart of gold (sort of). Oh yeah, and glasses, which he puts on when he needs to look sophisticated. They seem to want to get the angst across so desperately that not one but TWO sex scenes end with April bursting into tears.

But then it throws all this build-up away with what appears to be a "have your cake and eat it, too" ending that kind of renders the rest of the movie pointless. Is her choice understandable? Certainly. Will you find it satisfying? Depends on if you like the whole having and eating thing, but it certainly isn't compelling.

This is definitely a movie with limited appeal, and it's hard to recommend it as anything more than a possible rental. There will be many who would find it boring, I think.

SummaryPlain and uninteresting
Content
This movie focuses on a rich southern girl named April that is engaged to another socialite. April falls in love with a carnival worker named Perry and the movie follows their "forbiddne romance."

There isn't really anything particularly interesting in this movie. Some sex scenes, but that is about it. The plot is terrible and predictable. I would say that this would have been better marketed about a soft-core porno movie, but even most movies of such calibre have better sculptured plots.

Don't buy this movie. Don't even spend money to rent it. It is bad.

SummaryIf only they could have cast a good looking actor!!.
Content
This movie is a complete waste of time, not to mention(your) money. This is a 'hot southern nights' drifter/ romance plot that was big in the 50's and 60's. They work when Paul Newman types play them, not Richard Tyson-'can you say totally gross!!' yuck!. Sherilyn Fenn is lovely, however she has nothing on her mind in the film except getting down and dirty with the ugly
carny drifter dude. There really is no rhyme or reason to this movie. I was glad to see that they had at least thought to employ some "real" actors Burl Ives, Juanita Moore,ect... however not enough lines given to them to save this low budget 80's soft porn movie,The only reason to buy and/or rent this would be if you're interested in interior design and/or set design. Do yourself a favor and rent or buy "No Mercy" with Kim Bassinger and Richard Gere. Please skip this one!, You can find better trust me.
