Shantel VanSanten is an American model and actress. She is maybe best known for her role as Quinn James in the hit CW teen drama series “One Tree Hill,” which she played from 2009 to 2012. Recently, she played the role of Jess on “Gang Related” (2014). She has appeared on films like “The Final Destination” (2009), “You and I” (2011) and “Something Wicked” (2014). As a model, VanSanten has been featured in the magazines Teen Vogue and Seventeen.    


Childhood and Family:

Shantel VanSanten was born on July 25, 1985, in Luverne, Minnesota, as Shantel Yvonne VanSanten. Her family later moved to Dallas, Texas, where she grew up. She attended  Incarnate Word Academy (an all-girls college prep school) in Houston and Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. She has Dutch and Norwegian ancestry.

Shantel VanSanten began her career as a model for the Page Parkes Management when she was 15 years old. She later appeared as a finalist on the NBC reality television series “Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search,” but was expelled in the show's first episode. VanSanten also appeared in the made for TV films “Three Wise Guys” (2005) and “Spellbound” (2007) as well as the direct to video “Savage Spirit” (2006). She had a bit part in the horror film “The Open Door” (2008), starring Catherine Munden, Sarah Christine Smith and Ryan Doom.

In 2009, VanSanten was cast as Lori Milligan on “The Final Destination,” the fourth installment of the “Final Destination” film series. Directed by David R. Ellis, the film becomes the highest grossing Final Destination film by earning $186 million worldwide, but gained the worst critical reception of the franchise. The same year, she also made a guest appearance on an episode of “CSI: NY.”

Still in 2009, VanSanten won the regular role of photographer Quinn James / Quinn James Fletcher on The CW television drama series “One Tree Hill” in the show's seventh season. She remained with the series until it came to an end in early 2012.     

In 2011, VanSanten was cast in the films “You and I” (with Mischa Barton and Anton Yelchin), “Remembrance” (with Alice Dwyer, Dagmar Manzel and Mateusz Damiecki) and “In My Pocket” (with  Gregory Smith and Zack Ward). In the following year, she portrayed the role of Heather Hartly on the TV film “A Golden Christmas 3.”

Following the departing of “One Tree Hill” from airwaves, VanSanten had a recurring role as Tyler on the CBS series “Beauty and the Beast” (2013), starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan. She also guest starred as Jackie in “The Glades” (2013).  

In 2014, VanSanten was cast as  Jessica “Jess” Mary Chapel, Assistant District Attorney of Los Angeles County who is also Sam Chapel's daughter and Ryan's girlfriend, on the action/drama series “Gang Related.” The show premiered on Fox on May 22, 2014.  

VanSanten starred as Christine on the independent psychological thriller film “Something Wicked,” which received a limited release in the USA on April 11, 2014.

In 2015, VanSanten  will play the role of Vera on the upcoming CW series “The Messengers.”
