Robot Chicken

Background:

Hollywood actor Seth Green, who first gained public notice with the remarkable guest role of Adam Brinkerhoff in the sitcom “The Facts of Life” (1988, won a Young Artist Award), has taken part in numerous projects on the big and small screen. He appeared in TV series like the sitcom “Good & Evil” (1991, played David) and the high profile “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-1999, 2000, as Oz), took on such comic roles as Kenny Fisher in Can’t Hardly Wait (1998) and museum curator Patrick in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004) and did voiceover work in “Batman Begins” (1999-2000) and “Family Guy” (1999-?).

Currently, Green is working on his self-created series “Robot Chicken,” a 12-minute animated TV program. The actor will be seen in The Brazilian Job (2006), reprising his role of Lyle. He will also produce the animated documentary The 1 Second Film (2007).

Off camera, Green is a co-owner of Lucid Films, a production company he established with actors Breckin Meyer and Ryan Phillippe. The actor, who appeared in a 1992 ad for Rally’s Burgers and created the catchphrase “Cha-CHING,” is also a co-creator of the Freshmen comic series. Recently, in November 2006, he released the next volume of the comic titled “Freshmen Ii: Fundamentals Of Fear.” He also writes for Toyfare magazine and collects M.A.S.K. toys and a number of action figures. Privately, Green is now romantically involved with actress Chad Morgan.

Child Star

Childhood and Family:

The second child of Herbert Green (math teacher) and Barbara Green (artist), Seth Gesshel Green was born on February 8, 1974, in Overbrook Park, Pennsylvania. His only sibling is older sister Kaela Green.

A student of Robert E. Lamberton High School, Seth wanted to enter show business when he was six years old. He attended an acting workshop and made many commercials.

“My childhood success came and went real fast. Between 12 and 16, I grew as much as I was going to, anyway, and no longer looked the same. Like most child actors, I found it a difficult adjustment. Still, I’ve done so many things that I wasn’t associated with one thing. I’m an actor, not a celebrity. When recognition became an issue a few years ago, part of me felt undeserving. Desperate to maintain my popularity, I was performing all the time. Then, I caught a glimpse of myself at the MTV Music Awards, dressed in leather, grasping for jokes, and set about changing my habits. Now that I’ve stopped trying so hard, I’m more comfortable in my skin.”

The Facts of Life

Career:

At the age of ten, Seth Green made his film debut in Billions for Boris (1984), playing the supporting turn of Benjamin ‘Ape-Face’ Andrews. Quickly, he acquired a part as ‘Egg’ Berry in the star-studded drama comedy The Hotel New Hampshire (1984, alongside Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster) and followed it up with an appearance in an episode of “Tales from the Darkside” (1985, as Timmy). He also played Malcolm in the fantasy comedy Willy/Milly (1986) before doing voiceover work in the animated series “The Comic Strip” (1987).

Green guest starred as Adam Brinkerhoff in two episodes of the popular sitcom “The Facts of Life” (1988) and took home a Young Artist for Best Young Actor Guest Starring in a Syndicated Comedy, Drama or Special. He then made guest performances in “Mr. Belvedere” (1989) and “Life Goes On” (1990), before accepting a first regular role as David in the short-lived ABC sitcom “Good & Evil” (1991).

Following his episodic stints in “The Wonder Years” (1992), “Beverly Hills, 90210” (1993), “Weird Science” (1994) and “Step by Step” (1995), Green had a bigger role in the motion picture To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday (1996, had the part of Danny). A year later, he played Scott Evil in Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), a role he reprised in the sequels Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002).

Green gained even more attention with the role of Oz, the werewolf, in the teen horror series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-1999, 2000), where he also tried a hand at directing for an episode titled “Surprise.” He was then seen in the romantic comedy Can’t Hardly Wait (1998, had the supporting part of Kenny Fisher) and the dark horror comedy Idle Hands (1999), starring as Mick. Still in 1999, the actor voiced multiple characters, including the regular roles of Chris Griffin and Neil Goldman, in the comedy series “Family Guy” (1999-?). Green also sang the theme song for the animated series. During 1999-2000, he also lent his voice for the recurring character Nelson Nash, as well as the guest character Dempsey, in “Batman Begins.”

Joining director Joe Roth, Green was cast as young publicist Danny Wax in the romantic comedy America’s Sweethearts (2001). The actor then returned to television and costarred as Jimmy Bender in the sitcom “Greg the Bunny” (2002), alongside Eugene Levy. He also took on the role of Lyle, a computer genius, in The Italian Job (2003) and accepted the role of a mysterious museum curator named Patrick in Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed (2004).

In 2005, Green created and animated “Robot Chicken” (2005-current), a 12-minute stop motion with chickens as the main characters, along with colleague Matthew Senreich. In the series, he also provided his voice for various characters, as well as wrote, directed and produced some of the episodes.

Recently, Green starred as Barry in the sitcom “Four Kings” (2006), but the show did not last very long. Reprising his role of Lyle, he will appear in the sequel of his 2003 movie, The Brazilian Job (2006), alongside Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron. The next year, Green is set to produce the animated documentary The 1 Second Film (2007).
