 | Worst childrens' movie ever. It's stupid and unrealistic. This would NEVER happen in real life. Plus what child enjoys seeing a pale, dead body fall out of the closet? AWFUL. |

 | Robert Frost, the poet, once wrote "...nothing gold can stay." We grow up and lose our innocence. Become cynical. This is obviously the case with the pompous-sounding reviewer Benjamin Willcock from DVDAnswers. [A word of advice Ben: don't have kids is they annoy you so much.]
This Steven Speilberg classic story was released over 20 years ago in 1985 - a far more innocent era by todays standards.
For those of us who remember sharing the adventures of the Goonies, this film is a pure nostolgic pleasure to revisit. It will stir your inner child. 'The Goonies' has become a bonafide cult classic with a rabid following of fans, now in their late 20's and 30's.
Visit TheGoonies.org and download and watch the awesome 'Goonies Vacation,' made by two hardcore fans. It's been downloaded over 30,000 times! The opening theme song to this little flick will be sure to bring a smile to your face (trust me, it's great).
'Goonies 2' has a script, and ALL the original stars will be returning as adults (of course - even the same football-star-turned-actor who played Sloth), with them all getting dragged into another adventure somehow. I read somewhere that their kids, who are all friends, run off trying to emulate their parents quest for treasure from some 20 years before (some new financial crises crops up I'm sure). So the now grown gang must go after them before their kids get themselves killed. Richard Donnor and Steven Speilberg are involved. We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed. Check out the many Goonies websites for updates.
This DVD is really good with lots of awesome extras. At the end of the year there will be a Goonies 'Retropective' DVD (not a new film edition), which will be an awesome new experience! Read about it here: TheGoonies.org/documentary.htm

 | Goonies is a kids (preteen-teen) movie, granted I'm not one of those. I probably wont get many "helpful" review ratings but thats OK. I was really annoyed watching this because of the constant kids screaming, it's just like "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" with that asian kid screaming through a good chunk of the film (which is why it's probably the least liked of that series). The Goonies is watchable though and probably loved by the pre-teen, teen set from the 80's so bump the stars up one for them. As a generation movie, people who grew up in the 80's have this as one to hang their hat on (ET as another), I had (born in 1963) movies like "The Red Ballon", the Godzilla franchise, the Disney stuff like "Flubber", "Mary Poppins", "Davy Crockett", ect (not the remade crap Disney stuff of the 90's), "Mutual of Ohmaha's Wild Kingdom", "Wonderful World Of Disney TV Show", "The Munsters", "Star Trek TOS", live action saturday tv shows like "Land of the Lost", "The Original Ghostbusters", uncut "Loony Tunes", "Felix the Cat" cartoons, I could go on and on. I'll take my kids stuff to grow up to anyday over the "Goonies". |

 | when they're out of the nest during the day. Better than having the psycho religious parents around telling them to avoid things which inevitably they will come across and enjoy at some time in their lives.
The GOONIES is far better television for children than your local news with its real life trauma, I can tell you. Krapbooker claims to not like "scary" things, well that leads to a pretty sheltered life. Don't plague your kids with those horrible church-bred hang-ups, because that is what's really SCARY. The bible, too, is filled some horrifying things as well, but I bet she has no problem SCARING the kids with damnation threats
