Sarah Jo Martin was born on September 5, 1975, in Santa Monica, California. She spent her early years in Oregon. She began singing as a child and used to listen to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Joni Mitchell, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, and Stevie Wonder when she was younger. She did not develop a love for acting until her family moved back to Los Angeles, California a few years later. Her nickname is Sar-Bear.

Career:

At age 11, Sarah Martin made her television debut in “Little Spies” (1986), an ABC television film directed by Greg Beeman and starring Mickey Rooney, Robert Costanzo and Peter Smith. Playing Kristi, she jointly shared a Young Artist nomination for Outstanding Young Actors/Actresses Ensemble in Television or Motion Picture with other young co-stars like Jason Hervey, Adam Carl, Peter Smith, Scott Nemes and Candace Cameron Bure. The show itself was nominated for a Young Artist for Best Television Family Special, Movie of the Week or Variety Show and an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries or a Special.

Martin then appeared as a ranger girl in an episode of the CBS hit sitcom “Newhart” called “Camp Stephanie” (also 1986) and as Roger's girlfriend in “Family Ties” episode “Dream Date” (1987). She also played Melinda Beecham in an episode of “Day by Day” titled “Out for a Stretch” (1989) and Angela in “Hiroshima, Mon Frere” (1989), the episode of “The Wonder Years.”

In 2001, Martin was cast in the direct to video comedy film “Black Spring Break 2: The Sequel,” directed by Daniel Zirilli and starred Daron Fordham, Keisha Lewis and Rod Z.

In 2003, Martin was signed to Dreamworks Records. She has worked with various music producers like Missy Elliott and Timbalind and has provided backing vocals to numerous top artists, including Toni Braxton, Nancy Wilson and Jodeci. She has had sold out shows at many clubs such as The Mint, The Roxy, The Cinegrill, Whiskey A Go Go, and Pro Jam at Barfly.
