Background:

Daughter to actors Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, Rumer Willis has begun acting since early childhood, playing alongside one of her parents in the films "Now and Then" (1995), "Striptease" (1996), "The Whole Nine Yards" (2000), and "Hostage" (2005). She will soon get out of her parents' shadow when she appears in the upcoming films "From Within" and "I Know What Boys Like."

The 5' 6" rising star was named Miss Golden Globe for 2008.

On August 16, 1988, Rumer Glenn Willis, named after the British novelist Rumer Godden, was born in Paducah, Kentucky, where her father, actor film star Bruce Willis, was filming ''In Country'' (1989). Her mother, Hollywood superstar Demi Moore, hired cameramen to video tape her birth. Rumer has two younger sisters, Scout LaRue Willis (born in 1991) and Tallulah Belle Willis (born in 1994). She is of German descent from her paternal side.

Rumer is niece of Morgan Guynes and cousin of Cooper Guynes and Oliver Guynes. After her parents' divorce in October 2000, her mother married younger actor Ashton Kutcher and her father became engaged to model/TV personality Brooke Burns. Bruce Willis recently has been spotted dating Playboy Playmates Tamara Witmer and Karen McDougal on different occasions.

In November 2002, Rumer enrolled as a freshman at the Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, Michigan, and then enrolled as a junior at Wildwood Secondary School in Los Angeles, California, in January 2005. Graduating from Wildwood School (which her sisters Scout LaRue Willis and Tallulah Belle Willis also attend) in June 2006, Rumer briefly attended the University of Southern California, but dropped out by winter 2006-2007 to pursue her singing and acting career by taking classes.

Rumer is very good friends with Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, as well as Riley Keough, Elvis Presley's granddaughter. She has also been spotted spending time with Hollywood starlets Lindsay Lohan, Hayden Panettiere, and Antonella Barba.

Now and Then

Career:

Born to family of actors, Rumer Willis made her debut at the age of 5 in director Lesli Linka Glatter's drama comedy movie ''Now and Then'' (1995; also featuring Christina Ricci, Melanie Griffith, and Rosie O'Donnell). In the film that stars her mother Demi Moore, Rumer was credited as Willa Glen and played her mother's on-screen daughter.

Rumer followed it up with "Striptease" (1996), Andrew Bergman's film adaptation of Carl Hiaasen's erotic comedy book in which her mother Demi Moore took the lead role and Rumer once again portrayed her mother's on-screen daughter.

After having a normal life as a kid, Rumer, now a preteen, returned to film in Jonathan Lynn-directed Canadian Mafia comedy movie starring her father Bruce Willis, "The Whole Nine Yards" (2000), in which she played an uncredited role as the girl running between Jimmy (played by Willis) and Oz (played by Matthew Perry).

Five years later, in 2005, 17-year-old Rumer was cast as the daughter opposite her father, Bruce Willis, in the thriller "Hostage," director Florent Emilio Siri's big screen version of Robert Crais' novel. More recently, in November 2007, she was named Miss Golden Globe for 2008.

Rumer will soon complete an upcoming horror/mystery/thriller film by director Phedon Papamichael, ''From Within,'' which is being filmed in Havre de Grace, MD. She is also working on another upcoming film called "I Know What Boys Like," a comedy directed by Fred Wolf and stars Anna Faris.
