SummaryHave Fun Storming the Castle
Content
A sweet, whimsical cockeyed fairytail. Goodhearted and genuinely funny. Proof that comedy isn't all sarcasm, pointing & laughing, & profanity. If you're looking for something you can watch with your kids without falling asleep, this is it.

SummaryDon't listen to the naysayers, true love really does conquer all.
Content
I am always a bit curious as to why people with no emotional depth or imagination take the time to write negative reviews of movies like this, as a few have done here. Those reviewers that liked the movie have already analyzed it to death so I will not go there. As someone who enjoys virtually all genres of film, I will just say that The Princess Bride occupies a rare niche: it is a movie that every member of the family can watch and enjoy again and again; laugh and giggle and feel a warm glow by the time it is all over. It is silly, idealistic and unbelievable and it appeals to the child in all of us who still connect with that part of ourselves. And when your kids or grand-kids say, "Can we watch it again, please?" (for even the Dread Pirate Roberts says, "please") you will always be happy to reply, "As you wish".

SummarySome of the Best lines ever devised
Content
Westley: "As you wish"
Buttercup, "You mock me again, the day my Wesley died is the day I died"

Prince Humperdinck:"I have a kingdom to run, a wedding to plan, and a princess to murder"

Miracle Max: "The King's stinking son fired me, and thank you so much for bringing up such a painful subject. While you're at it, why don't you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice on it? We're closed"

Miracle Max: "Now thats a good cause."

Miracle Max: "Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is lean and the tomato is ripe"

Wesley and the giant: "I do not envey you my friend, for the headache you will receive when you awake, but until then dream of large woman."

Inigo Montoya and Welsley " Why are you laughing? Because I know something you don't know. And what is that? I'm not left handed"

Wesley and Vinnizi: "Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet, because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool, you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.

You only think I guessed wrong - that's what's so funny. I switched glasses when your back was turned. Ha-ha, you fool. You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia", but only slightly less well known is this: 'Never go in against a Sicilian, when *death* is on the line.' Hahahahahah. "

Wesley and Buttercup in the fire swamp: "Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist", "the scenery is really quite nice: trees and vines"

"My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die."

Buttercup marriage to Prince Humperdinck: The priest, "Marriage. Marriage is what brings us together, today. Marriage is the blessed arrangement, the dream within a dream. So treasure your wife."

Wesley and Buttercup: "There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours"

SummaryOne of my favorite movies of all time!
Content
This movie is hillarious and sweet at the same time. I have yet to meet anyone who has seen it and not loved it. It's based on a book which I absolutely loved, but I saw the movie first, so it holds a special place in my heart. And, the screenwriter was the author of the book, so it's well adapted.

The special features of this version are good - the comentary by Rob Reiner is very intersting. William Goldman --- well, he clearly hasn't done very many of these commentaries. I would have enjoyed an audio commentary with the cast members, but the special features are great ... I just wish there were more because I cannot get enough of this movie.
