 | Call it biased ... because I LOVE scenes involving running off on a plane in romantic comedies .. but Only You is a pizzazz of a film. The story is a funny rendition of many a love lesson ... that often the love you truly seek is right in front of you ... despite all the attachment to it being something else. Faith has all the faith in the world that her true love is a man called Damon Bradley ... just because a fortune teller at a fair once said so. What Faith doesn't know is that her older brother was playing a practical joke on her and slipped the seer a $20 to give a made-up name. Nonetheless ... a few weeks before the wedding ... when a guest cancels by the name of Damon Bradley ... Faith rushes to the airport en route to Italy to see if he is the real one. What follows next on the streets of Rome is a brilliant play on the whole meaning of fate, destiny, and the pointed question "Do you love him"?
If there is someone in your life who could use a substantial dose of faith in love, risk, and destino .... only see Only You. And then book a trip to Italy or in my case ... California.

 | If you are planning a trip to Italy, like I was, see this movie first. The scenery is great - the story a little sappy but fun and good entertainment. I even stayed in the Danieli hotel in Venice as a result of this movie...and toured the Amalfi Coast just like they did. And...even the "Mouth of Truth". Enjoy |

 | I loved this movie the first time I saw it on cable, so I decided to buy the dvd. It stars Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr. and Bonnie Hunt. The story is about a woman who goes all the way to Italy to find her true love after she gets his name from a Oujia board when she was young. Sweet story with a happy ending. Very funny too! You'll love it! |

 | Norman Jewison created this warm and airy ode to love, and gave it both the beauty and fragrance of a flower cart on the cobbled streets of Italy. The scenery will take your breath away and the story make you smile in this light romantic comedy.
The always sweet and engaging Marisa Tomei is Faith, on the the verge of marriage when a phone call from her fiance's friend will stop her dead in her tracks, simply because his name is Damon Bradley. A game played when she was a child and a Gypsy fortune teller at a carnival in her teens told her the man she would love and marry would be named, Damon Bradley.
Bonnie Hunt shines as Faith's sister-in-law and best friend, who takes off to Venice with her in search of her destiny, written in the stars. When they discover Damon Bradley has left the hotel he called from, the search will go from Venice to Rome, and on to the lovely Italian coast, as Norman Jewison gives us a gorgeous view of romantic Italy.
Robert Downey Jr. is at his most charming as Damon Bradley, who Faith meets by chance, or perhaps fate, and falls in love with. Faith will discover, however, that destiny has a few twists and turns in store for her, in this truly delightful violin concerto to love.
This film will work its magic on you if you enjoy a light romantic comedy with a 1950's feel, and will surely become one of your favorites if you are seeing it for the first time. Don't let destiny, or this film, pass you by. |

 | There are a few movies I can watch over and over and this is one of them. Okay, I am a huge Joaquim de Almeida fan (I do his web site) which was the draw for me to watch it the first time.
However, there's something so charming about this movie I'd have liked it anyway. While I do find Marisa Tomei somewhat annoying in the movie and didn't like Fischer Steven's character - the movie is enchanting. Beautiful scenery!
Bonnie Hunt by far stole the show from Marisa Tomei in this. And Joaquim turns in a wonderful performance. Most people in the U.S. only know his "bad guy" roles (such as Clear and Present Danger, Desperado, and "24") and haven't seen him do comedic roles. He handles it well and he is the perfect seductive character while being totally likeable. |
