Ricky Paull Goldin is best known for his roles on soap operas, most notably Gus Aitoro on “Guiding Light” (2001-2008), from which he received the 2005 Daytime Emmy Special Fan Award and two nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Jake Martin on “All My Children,” a role he began in 2008. He also played Gary Dawson on “The Young and the Restless” (1999-2000, 2001) and Dean Frame on “Another World” (1990-1993, 1994-1995), where he was awarded a Soap Opera Digest Award for his performance.

In 1995, Goldin was engaged to be married to actress Yasmine Bleeth, but they broke up. He was involved with Priscilla Taylor in 2001 before marrying English film producer Emma Ford in November of that year. The marriage was annulled in 2002. He is now in a relationship with TV fashion personality Gretta Monahan, with whom he had a child, Kai Rei, on October 21, 2010. Goldin enjoys fishing and is an approved U.S. Coastguard Captain.

Childhood and Family:

Richard “Ricky” Paull Goldin was born on January 5, 1965, in San Francisco, California, to British parents PJ Goldin, an actress, and magician and hypnotist Paul Goldin. His father left the family when he was still a youngster and Ricky was left under the care of her mother. Ricky is the nephew of British film director Jack Gold.

In November 2001, Ricky married British film producer Emma Ford. However, the marriage was annulled in 2002. On October 21, 2010, Ricky welcomed his first child, Kai Rei, with his fiancée Gretta Monahan.


All My Children

Career:

Born into a show business family, Ricky Paull Goldin made his television debut on the children's series “Romper Room” when he was three years old. He went on to appear in numerous commercials as a child before age 14, when he appeared in an episode of “NBC Special Treat” called “The Rocking Chair Rebellion” (1979).

Billed as Ricky Paul, Goldin made his television film debut as Andy DeFalco in the NBC drama “Coach of the Year” (1980), starring Robert Conrad, Erin Gray and Red West. He quickly branched out to the big screen with a significant role on the James Cameron horror film “Piranha Part Two: The Spawning” (1981). At the time, he was billed as Ricky G. Paull. Goldin resurfaced three years later on the TV film “Hard Knox,” as Jeff Bridley, and in the comedy film “Unfaithfully Yours,” opposite Dudley Moore, Nastassja Kinski and Armand Assante. He also portrayed Bobby in the “NBC Special Treat” episode titled “Booby and Sarah” (1984).

In 1985, Goldin landed his first regular role on the ABC sitcom “Hail to the Chief,” playing Doug Mansfield. The show, which starred Patty Duke, was canceled after seven episodes. Although the show was short lived, Goldin spent a year living with Duke and her family. Still in 1985, the young actor also appeared in episodes of “St. Elsewhere” and “The Hitchhiker” and as Brian in the Emmy Award winning TV film “Love Lives On,” starring Mary Stuart Masterson, Sam Waterston and Christine Lahti.

Next up for Goldin, he portrayed Jason Crawford on three episodes of “Kate & Allie” (1986), guest starred in an episode of “MacGyver” (1986), costarred with Dennis Holahan, Sydney Penny and Rosie Marcel on the science fiction movie “Hyper Sapien: People from Another Star” (1986), which was helmed by Peter R. Hunt, and offered a notable turn as Scott Jeske on Cruck Russel's horror film “The Blob” (1988), from which he netted a Young Artist nomination for Best Young Actor in a Horror or Mystery Motion Picture. He also had a recurring role on “ALF” (1988-1989, as Danny Duckworth), portrayed Phil Tiso in the “CBS Schoolbreak Special” episode “Words to Live By” (1989) and was featured on the comedy film “Going Overboard” (1989), starring Adam Sandler, Billy Bob Thornton and Billy Zane. He then appeared as Tad Davis in an episode of “21 Jump Street” called “Fathers and Sons” (1989).

1990 saw roles in the films “Lambada,” a drama directed by Joel Silberg that starred J. Eddie Peck, Melora Hardin and Adolfo Quinones, the Marina Sargenti directed horror film “Mirror Mirror,” opposite Karen Black, Yvonne De Carlo and William Sanderson, and the critically acclaimed drama “Pastime,” starring William Russ, John Achorn and Ernie Banks. The same year, he also guest starred in an episode of “Baywatch.”

Goldin entered the soap realm when he was cast as rock star Dean Frame on the NBC daytime drama “Another World,” a role he played from 1990 to 1993, 1994 to 1995, and briefly in 1998. He won a 1992 Soap Opera Digest in the category of Outstanding Younger Lead Actor for his performance.

Goldin next worked in several television films, including “A Face to Die For,” 1996's “Talk to Me,” 1997's “Moment of Truth: Into the Arms of Danger,” and 1997's “Something Borrowed, Something Blue.” He also guest starred in TV shows like “V.I.P.” (1998), “Love Boat: The Next Wave” (1999), “Malibu, CA” (1999) and “Pacific Blue” (1999). He then briefly returned to the big screen in a bit role on the comedy “Romy and Michele's High School Reunion” (1997), which starred Mira Sorvino, Lisa Kudrow and Janeane Garofalo.

Goldin joined the cast of the CBS daytime drama “The Young and the Restless” in 1999 in the role of Gary Dawson, which he portrayed in 2000 and 2001. He then joined the cast of the long running soap opera “Guiding Light,” where he played Augustus Aitoro from March 29, 2001, until his character was killed off on April 1, 2008. The role brought him a 2005 Soap Opera Digest nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor and two Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. He also received a Daytime Emmy Special Fan Award nomination for America's Favorite Couple in 2002, which he shared with Beth Ehlers, and eventually won the Special Fan Award for Irresistible Combination in 2005. After leaving “Guiding Light,” Goldin joined the cast of the ABC soap opera “All My Children” as Jake Martin. In 2010, he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for the role.
