Background:
British actress Rebecca Gethings portrayed Helen Hatley in series 4 of
the BBC TV comedy “The Thick of It,” aired from September
8, 2012 to October 27, 2012. Previously, she appeared in TV shows
“My Family,” “Doctors,” “Holby
City,” “Freezing,” “Extras,”
“Attachments” and “EastEnders” as well as in
the film “Casino Royale” (2006). Her theater credits
include the UK Tour of “When Harry Met Sally” (2005) and
the West End Production of “The Vegemite Tales” (2006).

Career:
Rebecca Gethings made her television debut in 2001 in an episode of the
British television soap opera “EastEnders.” A year later,
she portrayed the character Ruth on in two episodes of
“Attachments,” a BBC comedy/drama that ran from 2000 to
2002 about an Internet startup company. She went on to appear in
episodes of the television series “Comedy Lab” (2004) and
“Extras” (2005, as Lizzie Bunton) and in the short
film “The Blind Productions Project” (2005).
Gethings joined the UK National Tour of “When Harry Met
Sally” as Marie in 2005. She followed it up with a performance in
the West End Production of “The Vegemite Tales” in 2006.
The same year, Gethings was featured as hot room technicians in the
James Bond movie “Casino Royale,” the first film to star
Daniel Craig as 007.
During 2007-2008, Gethings appeared in television commercials for
Senokot laxative “Karaoke,” Harpic toilet cleaning
products “Potty” and Lloyd Grossman range of sauces.
Besides, she played the character Kim on the British comedy series
“Freezing,” starring Hugh Bonneville, Elizabeth McGovern
and Tom Hollander.
Gethings went on to make guest appearances in television shows like
“Doctors” (2008), “Not Going Out” (2009),
“The Omid Djalili Show” (2009), “Dani's House”
(2010), “Holby City” (2011) and “My Family”
(2011). In 2010, apart from works in TV commercials for NiQuitin
nicotine replacement products “Advice from the Future” and
Gaviscon heartburn medicine “Cinema Relief Or Your Money
Back,” she also played the role of Shelly the tortoise in the
television series “Iconicles” and lent her voice for the
video game “Kinect Sports.”
Recently, in 2012, Gethings was cast as special adviser Helen Hatley in
series 4 of the BBC TV comedy “The Thick of It.” She also
appeared in episodes of he Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd
Margaret” (as Head Juror), “A Young Doctor's
Notebook” (as Margarita) and “Little Crackers” (as
Mum).
