SummaryUnfairly judged at the box office! This is a good movie!
Content
There's really no other way to say it. Kingdom of Heaven was a bomb at the box office, and that just isn't right. If this film looks interesting to you, I highly recommend that you see it. It's commercial failing had more to do with the uncommercial storyline than on the execution of the movie, which is very good! Granted, Kingdom of Heaven isn't for everyone, but if you're interested in history, father-and-son stories, or even just want to see something different (how many crusade movies have to seen recently?), then give this one a shot.

You won't regret it. Most who have actually SEEN this movie love it! The problem was that not enough people were convinced to see it.

RECOMMENDED!

SummaryWOW! BIG WOW! See it with your Dad or Son.
Content
This is something else all togehter. It will not be what you expect, because no expecation can match the power this movie delivers. Who knew Orlando Bloom could act, much less be so powerful next to Liam Neeson and Jeremy Irons . Save your $4 at blockbuster becasue after renting it you will want to buy it. The greatest story about becoming a man, since El Cid. For those of you struggling through with gaining your fathers approval or meeting your parents expectations, see this movie with them.

SummaryAMAZING MOVIE!!!!!!!!
Content
I saw the movie three times in the theater. I love it. It's one of my favorites movies of all time. The script is brilliant. Also the music and effects are amazing.
ORLANDO BLOOM as Balian is excellent. He shows that he can handle to play the leading role. You always know what he thinks even if he does not speak.
The movie has also other famous stars. JEREMY IRONS as Tiberias is playing his character by heard. He gives such an impressive performance (like he does always).
LIAM NEESON as the father of Balian is very short in the movie but gives a good performance.
EDWARD NORTON as the king and MARTON CSOKAS as Guy de Lusignan are also amazing.
I think this movie is a little bit better than "Gladiator". It has a lot of touching scenes. If you cry sometimes at movies you will cry at this movie.
I can not really understand why the critics didn't like it. I think it's a REALLY good movie.
I think RIDLEY SCOTT is a brilliant director. He makes so many good movies.
Watch it if you have not seen it and DO NOT listen to the critics!!!!!!!!!!

SummaryThe most fantastic movie experience in years
Content
When it comes to castles, horses, extras in the thousands, and all-star casts, Ridley Scott handles it with amazing cinematic dexterity and visual grace. From the opening scene, you know you are in good hands. Amazing blue hues, the peaceful presence of snowflakes, and authentic costumes throw you into the world of the story. Crusading barons, blacksmiths, and arrogant priests throw you into the ultimate conflict of the story.

Orlando Bloom plays Balian, with much improved acting skill due largely in part to Ridley Scott's directing, and the ultra-realistic cinematography. He joins a heavyweight cast of Liam Neeson, Edward Norton, and David Thewlis. Any scene that he finds himself in with these three guys, are probably the best of the movie. In any event, the sooner you suspend your disbelief that the skinny Orlando can take on vicious foreign fighters and master swordsmen, the easier it will be to enjoy the movie. These events happen quite frequently. The guy looks like if you shoved him, he would stumble backwards and fall over from the weight of his armor.

What drives this movie, is the incredible adventure that Balian embarks on. It is more of an adventure than it is an action movie (which it is far from). After reuniting with his lost father, he engages in battle, travels miles on horseback, crosses the sea on a rickety ship, and makes his way to Jerusalem. This movie is rather the combination of "Seven Years in Tibet" and "Gladiator".

It seems that the Muslims feel they are portrayed badly in this film, while the Christians feel they are the ones who are portrayed as vicious killers and full of sin. This just shows that even in entertainment, we can't put our beliefs aside, and at least TRY to get a message from the movie. Of the 6 fight scenes that occur in this film, 4 of them deal directly with the Muslim against Christian ideals. But when these fights occur, they are all too surreal, visually breathtaking, and far more corrupt than any battles that i have seen in a film before. When the christians raid a peaceful (although, slightly guilty) muslim caravan, blood is cast through the air, and splatters against our christian friends. When an outnumbered band of Ibelin knights rush the oncoming Muslim tide of cavalry, the screams, the blood, the dirt, and the death portrayed is vicious and beautiful. And while visually impressive, the siege of Jerusalem may not sit well with some people. Lets just put it this way; hot oil and fire are not friends of attackers.

In the end, Kingdom of Heaven will draw you back to the glorious days of the epic when story was more important than battles.

P.S - Be on the lookout for the extended edition of Kingdom of Heaven. Around the holiday season, Ridley intends to release the movie with more than an hour of extended footage.

SummaryAnother amazing film from one of the best directors of all time
Content
Okay, at first I was disappointed to see Orlando bloom in this film. However, I will give him credit that this was his best acting yet, (far supperior to anything he has done in the past) but it is the amazing directing, and the acting calibor of all of the supporting cast that makes this movie absolutly fantastic. It was a film I walked into with high expectations, and I walked out of the theater with a great sense of satisfaction, it was much better than I expected. I agree with ebert and ropert, this films story line was much better and more interesting than that of Gladiator, had better battles, and was more relivent to todays events as it takes place in the middle-east and deals with many current cultural, religious, and political issues that began 1000 years ago. I recomend this film to anyone, from movie buffs, someone who wants a renter, or history freaks (okay, so there was no great big battle in real life, but Saladin had to do something with his 300,000 soldiers in the movie). The best epic since gladiator, one of the best i have ever seen.
