English actress Ophelia Lovibond is probably most popular for her role as slave Carina on the box office hit movie “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014). She is also known for her performance on other Hollywood films like “No Strings Attached” (2011), “Mr. Popper's Penguins” (2011), “A Single Shot” (2013) and “Thor: The Dark World”(2013). Lovibond, who was considered as one of the 55 faces of the future by Nylon Magazine's Young Hollywood Issue, has made a name for herself in her native country with roles on television series like “Holby City” (2006-2007), “FM” (2009), “Titanic: Blood and Steel” (2012), “Mr. Sloane” (2014) and “W1A” (2014).        


Childhood and Family:

Ophelia Lovibond was born on February 19, 1986, in London, England, as Ophelia Lucy Lovibond. She is known by her family and close friends with the nickname Fifi.

Ophelia Lovibond made her television acting debut in the British sitcom “The Wilsons” (2000), opposite David Bradley. Three years later, she starred in the drama series “Single” (2003), alongside Morwenna Banks and Amanda Haberland. The same year, she also appeared in the made for TV film “Loving You,” which starred  Niamh Cusack, Douglas Henshall and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Following her appearance in episodes of “Casualty” and “Nathan Barley” (both 2005), she played the role of Jade McGuire in several episodes of the BBC popular medical drama series “Holby City” between 2006 and 2007.

Lovibond made her feature film debut in the big screen adaptation of Charles Dickens' book, “Oliver Twist,” directed by Roman Polanski. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on September 11, 2005, and gained generally positive reviews from critics. She then portrayed Isabella in the Dutch film “Crusade in Jeans” (2006) and Katerina in the British teen comedy “Popcorn” (2007), which starred Jack Ryder, Jodi Albert and Kate Maberly.   

In 2009, Lovibond joined Chris O'Dowd, Kevin Bishop, Nina Sosanya and Daniel Kaluuya to star in the television series “FM.” The sitcom ran on ITV2 from February 25, 2009 to April 1, 2009. She later starred alongside Jean Simmons, James Wilby and Jamie Dornan in the independent film “Shadows in the Sun” (2009), portrayed Maria Kennedy in “Nowhere Boy” (2009), a biopic  about John Lennon's adolescence, his relationships with his guardian aunt and his mother, the creation of his first band, the Quarrymen, and its evolution into the Beatles, and shared the screen with Joe Absolom in the short film “Bottle” (2009).

Lovibond kept on busy in the following years with works on British films such as “Chatroom” (2010, starred Aaron Johnson, Hannah Murray, Imogen Poots, Matthew Beard and Daniel Kaluuya), “” (2010, with Emma Roberts and Tamsin Egerton), “London Boulevard” (2010, starring Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley and Ray Winstone), “Turnout” (2011) and “8 Minutes Idle “ (2012). She made her American debut in “No Strings Attached” (2011), a romance/comedy film directed by Ivan Reitman and starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher. There she played Vanessa, the former girlfriend of Adam (played by Kutcher). She followed it up with a small role on the Jim Carrey comedy film “Mr. Popper's Penguins” (2011).   

In 2012, Lovibond played the role of Kitty Carlton “Titanic: Blood and Steel,” a 12-part television costume drama series about the construction of the RMS Titanic.  

In 2013, Lovibond co-starred opposite Sam Rockwell, William H. Macy, Ted Levine, Kelly Reilly and Jason Isaacs in the American thriller movie “A Single Shot,” which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival on February 13, 2013. She had an uncredited part as Carina on “Thor: The Dark World”(2013),  the sequel to 2011's “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth.

In 2014, Lovibond starred as Robin in the Sky Atlantic comedy series “Mr. Sloane,” and as Izzy Gould, PA to Simon Harwood, on the four part series “W1A.” She also appeared as Kitty Winter in four episodes of the CBS crime/drama series “Elementary.” On the big screen front, Lovibond was cast as Carina, the Collector's slave, on the critically and financially successful superhero film “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which premiered in Hollywood on July 21, 2014.    

Lovibond has completed filming a starring role on the upcoming comedy film “Man Up.” She will also star in the forthcoming drama/thriller movie “Gozo” (2015), which is written and is directed by Miranda Bowen.
