 | It's hard to immediatly characterize THE OTHERS. Is it 2001s SIXTH SENSE or is it a deranged SECRET GARDEN. Either way, this OUIJA Board experience can be pretty creepy. The story involves an overprotective mother guarding her sunlight-challenged children in a spooky manor house. Nicole Kidman is stunning in the role. Not only does she share the inner most faults of the mother, she is also able to come across looking like a Silver Screen starlet exuding class on the entire film. the other main attraction in this film is the house itself, Behind every corner and curtain a potential danger waits. At it's heart, the film is an old-fashioned ghost story. That's not to say that the filmmakers are able to pull it all the way through without resorting to old cinema tricks (The biggest surprises in the film involve something jumping onto the screen). There is a twist of sorts at the end, but, I found that the script trasmitted it almost immediately leaving me ever so not-surprised. Still, the tight storyline is great for a snuggle and will probably benefit even more when it transfers to the small screen... cue lightning strike!

 | I love this movie because it has the "old fashioned" (bump in the night) scary-ghosty movie that is rare in today's horror flicks. Alot of people around me didn't care for it because it's slow. Yes it is slow and that's why I put the 4 stars down.

 | The Others is a movie that I still remember even though I saw it only once, back when it was released in 2001. The movie is a horror movie, and a good one. While it wasn't as scary as the Shining, and to me because not a lot of unrealistic horror movies, but it still had some freaky moments. I jumped at some and the ending had a great twist. Compared to most modern horror movies, I have to give this 4 stars. The plot is about a woman whose husband has vanished (he's off at war) who moves into a large mansion with her two children who are very unique. They cannot go into the light EVER. (they're like allergic to it in a way) And there's also a mysterious maid and ah yeah, some ghosts. This ghost story had me guessing till the highy unpredictable ending and I was jumping at some parts and freaked out at others. A very good horror movie. |

 | The Others is a very provocative thriller and makes people think. I disagree on whatever people are saying about this film that is negative. Even though it does take a while to get scary, I still recommend it. |
