Hollywood star Amy Adams praised for her generosity after giving up first class plane seat to US soldier Hollywood star Amy Adams proved she is no diva by giving up her first class plane seat to a US soldier yesterday.

The American Hustle actress saw the serviceman in uniform at the gate and chatted to him near the cockpit.

She then asked a flight attendant if she could swap places and hurried back to his seat.

Amy, who was born on a US military base, flew home in economy so he could enjoy her $900 (£528) ticket.

Jemele Hill, a presenter on the ESPN TV channel, was also onboard the Detroit to LA flight yesterday.

She said: “When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier’s way and then she said something to the person she was travelling with.

“Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class. I was upgraded to first class and she was a couple rows behind me. I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat.”

Jemele added: “I just thought it was incredibly classy and thoughtful.”

A flight attendant said the unnamed soldier and the 39-year-old actress briefly chatted privately near the front of the Delta Airlines plane....
