Neil Patrick Harris 'Wasn't Offered' Letterman's Slot For The Late Show, Says CBS Boss Neil Patrick Harris said this week that he felt he needed to turn down the coveted spot to replace David Letterman on The Late Show, but now CBS boss Les Moonves has said that the star was never offered the job in the first place.

During an interview with Bloomberg Television, Moovnes said that there was a discussion after How I Met Your Mother came to an end about what the actor wanted to do in the future.

Let's have a chat.' So we're chatting and my wife Julie, who has her own talk show, says all right, I'm going to tweet out this picture, right?"

During an interview with Howard Stern, Patrick Harris said that he was personally offered Letterman's job and described being called in for a meeting with Les Moonves.

"We had sushi brought in," he said. "It was fantastic. It was delicious. I loved it....
