Katherine Heigl working to save Sochi stray dogs Dogs are man's, and woman's, best friends and Katherine Heigl is desperate to ensure two stray dogs from Sochi, Russia find a new home.

The two animals were found wandering the streets in the city that hosted the Winter Olympics, and TV correspondent Ali Fedotowsky fell in love with the stray pups.

Ali brought the two animals, named Sochi and Adler, back to Los Angeles with her in the hope of giving them a better life, and Katherine and her mum met her at LAX airport to help out.

But the Knocked Up actress was worried about the health of the pooches when they first arrived, telling, "Sochi hasn't eaten in 15 hours and is throwing up, so we are hoping that's just from the travel... We haven't done this before. We haven't done a rescue from another country. I'm nervous for the dogs. It's an awfully long flight. I'm hoping the beginning of the good life to come."

The dogs have now been placed in quarantine to ensure they don't infect any other critters with diseases, and Katherine writes on her website that Sochi has been diagnosed with canine parvovirus and will need treatment, while Adler has a cough....
