Comfortably one of the most interesting-looking films of the Christmas season (even though we, er, don't get it in the UK until January) is Martin Scorsese's incoming The Wolf Of Wall Street. Reuniting him with Leonardo DiCaprio, the film tells the true story of Jordan Belfort, a stock broker in New York. There's an element of a rise and fall story here, but there's a bit more to it than that, which we won't talk about here in case you want to see the film cold.

What we can talk about though is the apparent battle that Scorsese has been having with the MPAA to get his final cut approved. Initially, The Wolf Of Wall Street was given an NC-17 reason, which for reasons that seem baffling to many of us here in the UK, seems to be absolutely box office poison.

The reason for the rating was apparently nudity and *** scenes. Had he just gone with shitloads of violence, he'd have got an R rather than an NC-17 rating in the first place....
