Friends star Matthew Perry’s life given ‘meaning’ as he helps drug addicts beat their demons

Friends legend Matthew Perry says he’s finally found ‘meaning’ in his life by helping drug addicts beat their demons.

The 43-year-old, who privately battled his own addiction to prescription pills, admitted his drug-addled past has also dashed a dream of running for US President one day.
My life has a lot more meaning now that I try to help people,’ said Perry, who spent a decade churning out the laughs with sarcastic gags as Chandler Bing on the hit US sitcom.

‘It’s also a selfish thing – it makes you feel better than anything else will,’ he said on his bid to help.

Perry, who has made three separate stints to rehab himself to fight an addiction to painkillers and alcohol, said of his Oval Office dream: ‘I think I’ve been to rehab too many times to run for office.’

Perry spoke about his bid to change life during an appearance in Washington as he lobbied to support specialist drug courts to deal with addicts.

The actor is certain the special drug courts is the best way to return addicts to community as productive citizens.

‘Drug courts are the single most effective program for curing serious drug addicts for life-long recovery,’ he told officials at the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies....
