OPRAH TO END IN 2011

OPRAH WINFREY will end her hit talk show in 2011, according to a leaked announcement.

Oprah will make the big news official during her show on Friday (20Nov09).

A statement from Tim Bennett, the president of Winfrey's production company Harpo, reads, "Oprah will announce live on The Oprah Winfrey Show that she has decided to end what is arguably one of the most popular, influential and enduring programs in television history.

"The sun will set on the Oprah show as its 25th season draws to a close on September 9, 2011."

Bennett's letter to TV network affiliates was leaked to U.S. news show Access Hollywood.

The TV executive also writes, "Before she speaks to her loyal viewers, we wanted to share her decision first with you - our valued partners for more than two decades... Share this news this evening with your colleagues and viewers.

"Oprah's personal comments about this on tomorrow's live show will mark a historic television moment that we will all be talking about for years to come."

At the Toronto Film Festival in Canada in September (09), where Winfrey presented new film Precious, the talk show queen revealed a big announcement was coming about her show.

She said, "I haven't made a decision yet and I have until the end of the year."

CAREY MISSED BELOVED DOG'S LABOUR

Jet-setting star MARIAH CAREY flew her personal vet from Los Angeles to New York to help her dog deliver puppies - but the singer missed the birth because she was in London.

The 40 year old jetted her own animal expert to the Big Apple earlier this month (Nov09) to help her beloved Jack Russell give birth, but the pooch waited until Carey was out of town before going into labour.

She was in London for a series of promotional events - and learned about the puppy delivery in between TV interviews.

She says, "My puppy just had a puppy. She's the most adorable Jack Russell terrier. We were worried because she was little, so she had to have a C-section and I missed the whole thing!

"I flew this vet, a lovely lady, all the way from L.A. to N.Y. and back and forth and the dog didn't have the puppies. I wanted to see the birth so, of course, when we got here (London) she had her babies."

50 CENT PAYS FILM TRIBUTE TO RUN-DMC STAR

Rapper 50 CENT has put his money behind a new documentary about slain RUN-DMC DJ JAM MASTER JAY as a tribute to the man who mentored him to become a hip-hop heavyweight.

The In Da Club hitmaker insists he would never have made it to rap superstar status if it wasn't for the DJ, real name Jason Mizell, so when he heard the hip-hop pioneer's nephew was struggling to fund a film about him - called Two Turntables & A Microphone - he stepped in to help.

50 says, "He's one of my mentors... I thought it was the least I could do.

"He helped me develop my song structure. At that point, when I came in, I didn't know how to count bars, so he would make me write the chorus several times before we started the record. He said, 'You know how to rap, that's the easy part for you.'

"It's the thing that separates me from the other artists... I had to have his approval before I could finish the rest of the songs (on my first album)."

PARKER SURROGATE: 'FILES AND PHOTOS WERE STOLEN WHILE I WAS IN HIDING'

SARAH JESSICA PARKER and MATTHEW BRODERICK's surrogate has testified in court that tax files and ultrasound photos were taken from her home in Ohio while she was in hiding immediately prior to giving birth to the couple's twins.

Ohio police officers Barry Carpenter and Chad Dojack are charged with illegally entering Michelle Ross' home in Martins Ferry, taking the items and then trying to sell them to a paparazzo who was attempting to break the news about the identity of the mystery mum.

Carpenter maintains he entered Ross' vacant home after spotting the door to her basement wide open. He told investigators he took nothing and simply secured the home after making sure there had been no break-in.

But Ross, who was moved to top secret West Virginia addresses in the weeks leading up to labour, insists files and photos were missing when she returned home after handing over the twins - and a cast of her stomach had been misplaced.

Appearing in court in Belmont County on Thursday (19Nov09), Ross recalled a paparazzo tracking her down to inform her that the two police officers and others were trying to sell her stolen personal items.

The surrogate also told the court that she made an agreement not to disclose the parents of the twins she was carrying, but she did write about the experience online while she was in hiding. She never named names.

After the paparazzo tracked her down, she was moved from address to address to protect her identity, while her own son was sent to live with relatives.

Ross gave birth to the babies in May (09).

BROWN PASSES PROGRESS HEARING

CHRIS BROWN has completed just seven out of 52 required domestic violence classes since he was sentenced in June (09) for his attack on ex-girlfriend RIHANNA - but they're enough to keep him out of jail.

The R&B star was back in court in Los Angeles on Thursday (19Nov09) for a progress report hearing, five months after he pleaded guilty to the brutal assault on the Umbrella hitmaker in February (09).

He was ordered to serve six months of hard labour in his home state of Virginia, five years of supervised probation for felony assault and also instructed to attend domestic violence classes.

Brown's progress report showed he has attended seven of the required tutorials, as well as 100 hours of community service.

And the presiding judge was satisfied Brown was on course to completing his sentence, according to TMZ.com.

There was also no evidence to suggest Brown had violated a restraining order imposed on him - as part of his plea deal in June, he agreed to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna, unless they were at the same function.

The 20 year old's next progress report hearing is scheduled for 18 February (10).

LUTZ & FACINELLI SHOOT DOWN GAY RUMOURS

TWILIGHT father and son PETER FACINELLI and KELLAN LUTZ have dismissed murmurings of a secret gay romance after photos surfaced of the two actors holding hands.

Both stars find the gossip amusing, with Lutz joking there are far more damning shots of the pair together.

He tells Eonline.com, "It's the naked one (photo) of us in the bubble bath that would really get us into trouble!"

Facinelli is also poking fun at the fuss - posting the picture on his Twitter.com blog and quipping, "Co-stars caught holding hands... Guess this picture proves everything."

And the actor, who is married to 90210 star Jennie Garth, jokes, "We're just friends. It's weird how rumours get started. You're holding hands with a friend and then the rumours begin."

Facinelli reveals the paparazzi snap was taken in April (09): "We were coming off a plane and the paparazzi were all over us so we were just being goofy. At one point, we even pulled out a Twilight book and started reading it. If they wanted a circus, we were going to give them a good show."

Ironically, Lutz has been romantically linked to AnnaLynne McCord - a castmate of Facinelli's wife on 90210 - but he dismissed dating reports during a recent radio interview.

The actor told Los Angeles DJ Ryan Seacrest he and McCord had been friends since they were both Abercrombie & Fitch models - but they have never dated.

STARR DUETS WITH MCCARTNEY ON NEW ALBUM

RINGO STARR has landed the closest thing to a BEATLES reunion on record - SIR PAUL McCARTNEY features on his new album.

The former Fab Four stars team up for Walk With You, a duet all about friendship, on Starr's latest project Y Not, which will hit stores in January (10).

Starr recalls, "Paul was doing the Grammys, so he came over to the house and I played him this track and Paul said, 'Give me the headphones. Give me a pair of cans.' And he went to the mic and he just invented that part where he follows on my vocal. That was all Paul McCartney, and there could be nothing better... He's a genius."

The new album marks the first time Starr has produced himself and he insists he was ready for the studio challenge: "I looked in the mirror and I was looking real groovy that day."

However, he accepts many fans will be surprised to learn he's the man twiddling the knobs on the project: "I was the least involved in the production of the Beatles records. And then, with my solo records, I worked with some other great producers like Richard Perry, Arif Mardin, and Don Was. So it just seemed like that's the way that it goes.

"Then suddenly, it's another point in your life, and you say, 'I'm going to do this now.' So I'll be producing anything I make from now on. That's the good news. It's a confidence thing, I suppose. And Y Not is really another way of me saying, 'Yes, I can'."

As well as McCartney, the guests on the album include Starr's former brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Ben Harper and Van Dyke Parks, who co-wrote the song Starr sings with McCartney.

McCartney also played bass on his old bandmate's latest peace track, Peace Dream.

CIBRIAN SUES FOR DEFAMATION

Actor EDDIE CIBRIAN has launched a $1 million (£625,000) defamation lawsuit against U.S. magazine Life & Style over an article suggesting he's cheating on girlfriend LEANN RIMES with a woman claiming to be an ex-mistress.

Cibrian threatened the legal action earlier this month (Nov09) and now he's following through, according to TMZ.com.

Aspiring actress Scheana Marie Jancan recently told the publication the American TV star is a serial cheat who will sleep with women behind Rimes' back.

Jancan warned Rimes, who quit her own marriage to date Cibrian, that the hunk will dump her after he has had his fun.

And, just last month (Oct09), the publication ran a story suggesting Jancan and Cibrian were dating again - behind Rimes' back.

A statement from the star's representative says, "Unfortunately Life & Style Magazine has chosen to go out with a story filled with inaccuracies and deceitful lies, presumably to titillate sales, but clearly resulting in harm to Eddie Cibrian and others."

In the suit, lawyers claim the articles published by the magazine "falsely portray Eddie as being unfaithful to Ms. Rimes, as currently being in a romantic with Ms. Jancan, and as having abandoned his children."

Cibrian split from his wife Brandi Glanville earlier this year (09) when he started dating country star Rimes.

Mr Hudson says, "If you're in a situation where you don't feel comfortable, make sure you take long deep breaths and say what you need to say. You will sound more confident and feel more confident."
