SummaryBeauty and the Bugs
Content
Not bad for a Mexican director I'm impress. This movie has giant mutant cockroaches living in the subways of New York their always killing people cause of them being attractive to human blood if a human put the cockroaches blood all over him they won't attack that human. These bugs are big all cause of an entomologist name Mira Sorvino and her husband. In order to kill all the bugs they have to kill the male he's the king.

SummaryNice concept, Above average movie
Content
The idea of a genetic mutation miscalculation which leads to the higher evolution of insects to adopt human ways is not impossible. Del Toro took a very X-file-ish theme and created a very enjoyable sci-fi thriller. The movie was very fast paced and both the horror and suspense elements were done just right, not too little and not too overdone.

A few things I didn't like about this film was some of its more subtle things. Mira Sorvino was playing an entomologist, yet when she studies or investigate specimens, she takes no logical safety precautions. The same recklessness occurs repeatedly for her and every other cast throughout movie. Things like touching bugs that likely carry unknown diseases with your bare hands, or when they go underground to hunt for the roaches without any type of scientific or safety equipments is just very illogical to me. To think that in the beginning of the movie, the city undergone a catastrophic epidemic that were spread by roaches and for them to go on the rest of the movie every time without any planning or taking precaution is just unthinkable. The plot was nicely written and the story flowed well, but the reckless actions from supposedly "experts" just kills it. It doesn't just happen once or twice, but every single time. A number of scenes also seemed very forced and felt like they were put there just so the story can continue the way the director wanted, yet they made no logical sense.

Despite the few imperfections, this movie is still a great watch. I definitely recommend a rental if you are looking for a nice action thriller to kill a saturday night.

SummaryLife will Find a Way
Content
That quote from JURASSIC PARK always comes to mind in films like MIMIC.
A scientist finds a way to beat a horrible disease crippling and killing children, but the method used is not fully thought through. One senior geneticist is ignored, and the JUDAS bug is implemented. And what they have done is accelerate the genetic process by many thousands of generations in a short space of time ... in a species that was engineered to "die out".
The acting is top notch, casting has people perfect for the role, and this stellar cast delivers in spades.

ENJOY.

SummaryBig Bugs!
Content
If you like David Fincher movies and other dark moods like that you'll probably enjoy this. The style really triumphs over the story which is sort of lame. Cockroaches are bred in order to kill some desease that is attacking kids in New York I believe. Anyways they "evolve" or mutate and begin to kill people instead of save them. So, there's an investigation because of course the main leads don't know what's going on. Well this is a cool movie. The only thing bad is that some of the characters are a little bland and the DVD sucks...
Charles S. Dutton is awsome as usual fighting monsters (Alien 3), and actually dieing in the same way he did when he was directed by David Fincher. Hmm...
Well, the coolest guy always dies IMO. If you like dark moods and good cinematography you'll enjoy this.

SummaryThe Scariest Movie about Giant Bugs Ever.
Content
This is an excellent monster movie, pure and simple. It is not really campy or funny, but it manages to do something that few monster movies do nowadays; it scares you. Yup. The atmosphere for this movie is great and the movie is very unpredictable. It seems if Del Toro took quite a bit of care to avoid cliches, and he definitely succeeds. If you want a monster movie that is actually scary, pick up Mimic. If seeing a giant roach killing a child does not shake you up a little bit, watch this on a rainy night.

I give "Mimic" a 4.5 out of 5(rounds up).
