Melanie Johansson is known as the mother of actresses Scarlett Johansson and Vanessa Johansson. She is the co-producer of “A Love Song for Bobby Long” (2004), from which Scarlett received a Golden Globe nomination. Melanie Johansson was born Melanie Sloan in 1951, in The Bronx, New York. She later married Denmark-born Karsten Johansson, the son of writer Ejner Johansson. The marriage ended in separation after producing four children, Adrian (born 1976), Vanessa (born 1980) and the twins Scarlett and Hunter (born 1984), She once became the stepmother of Christian, Karsten's son from a previous relationship.

Melanie Johansson entered the show business in 1996 when she was featured in the Lisa Krueger film “Manny & Lo,” which starred daughter Scarlett. The rest of the Johansson family also appeared in the film.
Eight years later, Melanie made her producing debut with “A Love Song for Bobby Long,” a 2004 drama directed by Shainee Gabel and starring John Travolta, Gabriel Macht and Deborah Kara Unger, in addition to Scarlett. The film brought the younger Johansson a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama.
After the successful entry, Melanie will produce the motion pictures “Napoleon and Betsy” (2009) and “Amazon” (2010). Penned by Benjamin Ross, the drama/romance “Napoleon and Betsy” tells the story of destroyed French Emperor Napoleon during his last years on the island of St. Helena when he falls for a young English girl. Emma Watson will portray the character of Betsy Balcombe. Scarlett is set to star in the adventure/action “Amazon,” about female gladiator.
