Meghan Markle is an American actress, fashion model and spokesmodel. She is best known for portraying Rachel Zane on the USA legal drama “Suits.” She was the model who held case #24 on the US version of the television game show “Deal or No Deal” (2007).  

Markle has been separated from husband Trevor Engelson.


Childhood and Family:

Rachel Meghan Markle, who would later be popular as Meghan Markle, was born on August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, California, to an African American mother and a father who is of Dutch and Irish lineage. As a daughter of a photography director, she spent her early years on the set of “Married...with Children.” Meghan majored in Theatre and International Relations at the Northwestern University and worked for the US Embassy in Buenos Aires after graduating from college.

On September 10, 2011, Meghan married longtime boyfriend Trevor Engelson, who she began dating in 2004. The couple separated in May 2013.

Random Encounters


Meghan Markle was discovered at a party after her friend gave a manager a copy of Markle's film in college to watch. She worked as a freelance calligrapher to support herself between acting jobs. In 2002, Markle made her television debut in an episode of “General Hospital,” playing Jill. She went on to land guest spots in “Century City” (2004), “Cuts” (2005), “Love, Inc.” (2005), “The War at Home” (2006), “CSI: NY” (2006), “90210” (2008), “'Til Death” (2008), “Knight Rider” (2009), “Without a Trace” (2009), “Fringe” (2009, playing Junior FBI Agent Amy Jessup), “ The League” (2009) and “CSI: Miami” (2010).     

Markle got her first film role on “A Lot Like Love” (2005), a comedy/drama film starring  Ashton Kutcher, Amanda Peet and Taryn Manning. It was followed by a small role as Megan on the drama film “Remember Me” (2010), starring Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin and Caitlyn Rund, and an uncredited part in the comedy “Get Him to the Greek” (2010), starring Jonah Hill, Russell Brand and Elisabeth Moss. Markle also appeared in the TV films “Deceit” (2006), “Good Behavior” (2008) and “The Apostles” (2008) as well as in the short film “The Candidate” (2010).    

Markle appeared on  “Deal or No Deal” between 2006 and 2007. She made her debut on the game show in a single appearance as case #11 holder on April 12, 2006. She went on to appear as a regular model carrying case #24 until she quit the show in early 2007.

Markle's big break arrived when she was cast as Rachel Zane, an attractive paralegal working with Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) and becomes his important after-hours research ally, on “Suits”. The show premiered on The USA Network show on June 23, 2011. The show was renewed for a fourth season on October 24, 2013.

While working on “Suits,” Markle also took other roles, such as playing Dana on the made for TV film “ The Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down” (2011) and guest starring in an episode of “Castle” (2012). She appeared as a FedEx girl named Jamie in the black comedy film “Horrible Bosses” (2011), starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx, worked with Stacey Dash, Wesley Jonathan and Jason Weaver on Corey Grant's comedy/drama film “Dysfunctional Friends” (2012) and starred as Mindy in the Boris Undorf helmed comedy “Random Encounters” (2013).    

Markle will star opposite Gregg Sulkin and Josh Myers on the upcoming film “Anti-Social” (2014), directed and written by Reg Traviss.
