Catch That Kid
Background:

Grandson of Charles de Young Thieriot, the owner and publisher of the San
Francisco Chronicle, Max Thieriot started his career as a model for GAP before
landing his first film role as Gus, the kid who helps Kristen Stewart's
character robbing a bank in the teen comedic thriller Catch That Kid (2004), and
then as Seth, one of the Plummer children protected by Vin Diesel’s character in
The Pacifier (2005). Next, Thieriot will co-star with Billy Bob Thornton and
Virginia Madsen in The Astronaut Farmer (2007), playing their son, and with Emma
Roberts in Nancy Drew (2007), as the titular teen detective’s boyfriend. The 5'
11" tall actor will also portray the younger version of Hayden Christensen's
lead character in Doug Liman's sci-fi film based on Steven Gould's popular
novel, Jumper (2008).

The Chronicle Empire
Childhood and Family:
On October 14, 1988, Maximillion Drake Thieriot was born in Los Altos Hills,
California to Cameron Thieriot and Bridget Snyder. He has two siblings: a sister
called Frances and a brother called Aidan. He is the grandson of Charles de
Young Thieriot, the owner and publisher of the San Francisco Chronicle, and a
descendant of the de Young brothers, founders of the Chronicle.
Thieriot resides in Occidental, California and attends El Molino High School. In
his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, hunting, surfing, fishing and
wrestling. He has 19 pets.
Jumper Boy
Career:
"At first, I didn't like coming down to Los Angeles at all. It's like
everything's black and white compared to where I live out in the middle of
nowhere. There's like 400 people in my town!" Max Thieriot.
Being a standout in an improvisation class, Max Thieriot quickly landed an agent
and started his career in show biz as a model for GAP clothing line. He appeared
in a couple of short films before being cast in his first feature film role, in
2004's Catch That Kid, director Bart Freundlich's remake of the Danish
blockbuster Klatretøsen (2002). In the teen comedic thriller, he co-starred with
Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Beals and Corbin Bleu, playing Gus, the kid who helps
Stewart's character robbing a bank her mother (played by Beals) works to get the
money needed to save her dying father.
"I don't know, I was kinda nervous at first like what he was going to be like
and if he was going to have this huge ego and stuff like that. But it's not at
all like that." Max Thieriot (on working with Vin Diesel).
Thieriot followed his debut work with The Pacifier (2005), an action comedy film
by Adam Shankman. In the film, which also stars Lauren Graham, Faith Ford and
Brittany Snow, he played the uplift sullen 14-year-old Seth, the oldest and
rebellious son of the Plummer family protected by a disgraced Navy Seal played
by action star Vin Diesel. Thieriot performed all of his own singing for the
film and his performance earned a nomination for Best Performance In A Feature
Film -- Supporting Young Actor at the Young Artist Awards.

Thieriot just complete his new film, The Astronaut Farmer, a space-themed drama
film set for release on February 2, 2007. In the film, which also stars Bruce
Willis, he will portray Shepard Farmer, the son of Billy Bob Thornton and
Virginia Madsen's character. He also just finished Nancy Drew, Andrew Fleming's
film adaptation of the popular series of mystery novels about the titular teen
detective. He will co-star with Emma Roberts, Kay Panabaker and Amy Bruckner,
playing the role of Ned, the boyfriend of the title role (played by Roberts).
The film has a release date of June 15, 2007.
Currently, Thieriot is filming his upcoming film, Jumper, a sci-fi film directed
by Doug Liman based on Steven Gould's popular novel of the same name. He will
play the younger version of Hayden Christensen's lead character, Davey, a smart
kid with a tough family life, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Bell and Rachel
Bilson.
