Commander in Chief Horace Background: A former bat boy with the Atlanta Braves, Matt Lanter began acting in 2004 with a tiny part as Bobby Jones' (played by James Caviezel) Caddy in the biographical drama film "Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius." Since then, he has retreated to television and was widely noticed while playing Horace Calloway on the ABC drama series "Commander in Chief" (2005-2006). He also had recurring roles on Fox teen drama series "Point Pleasant" (as Nick; 2005), NBC science fiction serial drama "Heroes" (as high school quarterback and Hayden Panettiere's classmate Brody Mitchum; 2006), and CBS legal drama "Shark" (as Eddie Linden; 2006). Lanter recently starred as Mike on Fox's paranormal drama television pilot, "The Oaks" (2008). He will provide the voice of Anakin Skywalker on the upcoming American 3D CGI animated television series "The Clone Wars," which would kick off with a feature film set to be released in theaters on August 15, 2008. The 5' 10" actor has completed filming "WarGames: The Dead Code," the upcoming direct-to-DVD released sequel to the 1983 science fiction film "WarGames," and will return to the big screen alongside Carmen Electra and Kimberly Kardashian in a new comedy movie called "Disaster Movie."
Childhood and Family: “I had a normal and fun childhood.” Matt Lanter. Born in Massillon, Ohio, on April 1, 1983, Matthew Mackendree Lanter later moved to Atlanta, Georgia at 8. After graduating from Collins Hill High School in 2001, he studied Sports Business at the University of Georgia after attending a community college for two years. Matt's parents got divorced when he was a senior in high school. His mother named Jana Burson. Matt spent much of his time playing sports including baseball, football, and golf. His love for baseball led him to a position as a bat boy with the Atlanta Braves. While he is not filming, Matt enjoys being outdoors, playing golf, and relaxing at the beach. He also loves to build tree forts and does it pretty regularly with his friends. As of 2007, he resides in Los Angeles. “My friends in the neighborhood and I always loved to build tree forts. Career: While studying at the University of Georgia, Matt Lanter, whose favorite movie is “Top Gun” (1986), decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. In 2004, under the name of Matthew Lanter, he landed his first film role in Rowdy Herrington's biographical drama about the golf legend who retired from competition at the tender age of 28, "Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius," playing a small part as Bobby Jones' (played by James Caviezel) caddy. After a guest spot in a March 2005 episode of the ABC sitcom "8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter," the novice actor scored a recurring role as Nick on the short-lived Fox teen drama series "Point Pleasant" (2005). That same year, he made his TV series regular debut on the ABC drama series "Commander in Chief," playing Horace Calloway, the oldest of President Mackenzie Allen (played by Geena Davis) and First Gentlemen Rod Calloway's (played by Kyle Secor) three children, and the twin brother of Caitlin Wachs' Rebecca Calloway. The show was canceled on May 13, 2006. During this time, Lanter guest-starred in an episode of the HBO drama "Big Love." He also landed recurring TV roles as Brody Mitchum (2006), a classmate of Hayden Panettiere's lead character Claire Bennet and quarterback on the football team at the Union Wells High School on the NBC science fiction serial drama "Heroes," and as Eddie Linden (2006) on the CBS legal drama starring James Woods, "Shark." In 2007, Lanter supported Louise Lombard in the made-for-television movie "Judy's Got a Gun" and guest-starred in an episode of CBS cop/crime drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," USA Network Emmy Award-winning dramedy starring Tony Shalhoub, "Monk," and ABC critically-acclaimed primetime medical drama "Grey's Anatomy."
