South of Nowhere
American actress hailed from Florida Mandy Musgrave first came to the attention of TV audiences playing Chelsea Benson on the daytime series “Days of Our Lives” (2004-2005), but she did not hit the big time until she was cast as bisexual teenager Ashley Davies on “The-N's” hit series “South of Nowhere” (2005-?), which deals with such issues as homosexuality, racism, drugs, teen drinking and cavernous dysfunction. The award-nominating show has made her a favorite among young and adult followers.
“When we first started, we had a bunch of angry Christians and other highly religious people because they think that we're going to be turning America gay. I mean, you can't turn someone gay! We're just trying to show people what'' going on in everyday life. There are way more teen suicides among gay teenagers than among straight kids and that's terrible. People should be able to come out and say 'this is who I am.'” Mandy Musgrave
Currently, Musgrave is engaged to “South Of Nowhere” co-star Matt Cohen. In her leisure time, she enjoys water polo, bowling, running, kickball, volleyball, writing poetry, dancing and singing. She is a big fan of “Buffy” and counts “Will and Grace,” “Smallville,” “King of Queens,” “Family Guy” and “Everybody Loves Raymond” as her favorite TV shows to watch.
Childhood and Family:
“I'm always cleaning, on set, doing little things here and there. When I was younger, I wanted to be two things: one was an actress, and one was a maid. I love the acting thing. I love to clean. I also wanted to go into journalism. (Also) I love to write poetry. I write at least one or two poems a day. I love to paint. You can never find that perfect piece that you want, so why not paint it yourself? I love to sing and dance. I was a Latin dancer growing up. I love all' of that.” Mandy Musgrave

Granddaughter of actress Rosita Thompson, Mandy Musgrave started acting when she was 6 years old in school productions, but did not take it seriously until she hit high school. Also an athlete, she made remarkable performances in high school in the stage productions of “The Miracle Worker” and “Anything Goes” and then headed to Hollywood after completing high school to be a full-time actress.
Shortly after her move to L.A., Musgrave made a promising television debut in the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” She played Chelsea Benson from 2004 to 2005. After the break out role, she landed a recurring role as a cheerleader named Suzie in two episodes of the Kevin James/Leah Remini comedy series “The King of Queens” (2005) and a one-episodic turn as Jackie Ryan in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2005).
However, Musgrave did not really enjoy real television success until she won the regular role of Ashley Davies on the lesbian-themed series “South of Nowhere” (The-N, 2005-?). As a self-loving, bisexual and troublesome teenager, she emerged as an icon among young audiences across America and also became a favorite among adult fans. The show itself had a strong ran and was nominated for the GLAAD Media Awards twice in 2006 and 2007 in the category of Outstanding Drama Series and a 2007 Teen Choice for Breakout Show.
“The quality I like about her least is (Ashley Davies') tolerance level. She has no tolerance level for anything. She doesn't seem very forgiving. I myself am very forgiving. She makes so many mistakes by this season. I wish that Ashley could open up more, it's not that hard to do, but she's gone through a lot. I admire how strong she is, how focused she is. She doesn't follow what everybody else is doing. She is rich, but she doesn't flaunt it. I admire that so much about Ashley.” Mandy Musgrave
In 2007, Musgrave could be seen in a web series called “Girltrash,” along side Amber Benson, Gabrielle Christian and Jordana Brewster. There she played Misty Monroe.
Musgrave will play Darby on the coming of age comedy film “Duck Farm No. 13” (2009). The upcoming project is written and directed by Becky Smith.
