SummaryColorful and exuberant, just like Lola
Content
Teen siren Lindsay Lohan haws certainly come a long way since exploding onto movie screens in the double role of Hallie and Annie in the 1998 big-budget remake of THE PARENT TRAP. In that movie she was a precocious 11-year old with a gangly frame and cute-as-a-button freckled face. Now she is a rising sex symbol with a great figure, fantastic singing voice and a confidence born of a string of hit movies.
The past couple of years Lohan has had a series of hits from (another remake) of FREAKY FRIDAY to the dark teen comedy (a modern-day HEATHERS) with MEAN GIRLS.
Although she was impressive in all of the above mentioned roles. I would venture a guess however that (with the possible exception of acting alongside herself in her first movie) this film - CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN - showcases her talent most effectively and gives her a real opportunity to sink her teeth into a role.
New York born Lohan finally gets to appear on her "home turf" (somewhat) as a New Yorker with "street smarts" who is forced to move to suburbia in the shape of Deadwood, New Jersey.
Lohan's character, the flashy, exuberant and quirky Mary (who prefers to go under the pseudonym Lola) does not fit into the perfect plastic world of suburbia. And instantly she makes an enemy of the most popular girl in school Carla (played with suitable venom by Megan Fox) and friends with the geeky nerd gal pal Ella (played by Alison Pill). Flashbacks of Buffy's friendship with Willow over Cordelia?!
All is not going well for Mary (sorry Lola) and things get worst when her favorite band announces that they are splitting up. The flashy, colorful look of the picture plays up the happy Walt Disney-fied approach to filmmaking and the intercutting to visuals is strongly reminiscent of Hilary Duff's "Lizzie McGuire" show in its downright quirkyness.
Soon Lola and Ella are on their way to New York determined to get into the farewell concert and crash the following party and show up Carla for the nasty piece of work she really is.
What follows is pure zany wierdness in an ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING way. But whereas that simply terrible Elisabeth Shue 1980s effort tankeed in a remarkable way, somehow this Lohan movie triumphs as we find out two heroines rescuing the lead vocalist for the band and getting into the party in a legit way.
Will Carla get her comeuppance? Will Lola reach the school in time to take her place as the star of the high school musical? Will she get the guy? All these questions are answered in the closing moments and it's these questions and the wonderful performance by Lohan that make this movie a cut above similar attempts at this type of story.
A quirky dark comedy with a wicked sense of humor, you could do a lot worse than giving this a spin.

SummaryOkay, ...poor Lindsay...
Content
I am a big fan of Lindsay Lohan and Dyan sheldon (the author of the book this movie was based on), but this movie was rather dissapointing. It's about a creative, imaginative and dramatic Lola (or Lying Lola, as her nickname is)who moves from the wonderful NYC to a drab and rather dull surburb in New Jersey. Things heat up when she gets caught in her lies and her and her best friend, Ella, try to sneak away to a concert and find the band's lead singer drunk and alone. I won't give the rest away!! I bought it and I do like it, but the cast was no match for Lohan. Rent this movie before you buy, that's a must.

SummaryLame, chessy - bad acting!
Content
I cannot figure out why so many people - teenage girls, mostly - think Lindsay Lohan is so talanted. Because she really isn't. She can't act - most of the movies shes in (excluding Herbie) are very lame, chessy, and sort of boaring. When she tries to act, she sounds too fake. This movie had a cheap, and sort of anoying idea to it - A teenage girl who wants to become an actess (or a "DRAMA QUEEN", in Lindsay's words). This movie, just barely kept me awake - It wasn't fun, nor was it entertaining. To say the least, i thought this movie, kind of, well. . . . sucked. I wouldn't buy it, or rent it - it was very boring with no real story.

SummaryLINDSAY CAN BE A DRAMA QUEEN!
Content
This movie is about a New York City girl, Lola Step, who moves to New Jersey. Lola goes to a new school, and makes a new friend, Ella, and a new rival Carla Santini. Lola, thinks she is destined to become a famous actress, so she auditions for the lead role in the school play Eliza Rocks!, a modern day version of the play Pigmalieon. Lola gets the lead role of Eliza, but at the same time her favorite band in the whole world Sidarthur, breaks up. She finds out that they are having a farewell concert and afterparty, and she must go! So her and Ella work up a scheme with Ella's parents, and Lola's mom. They get on a train to the concert. But they can't get in. So they still have hope for the after-party. Once they get to the house, they see the lead singer Stu Wolf, thrown out of his own party because he is drunk. Soon after, Lola, Ella, and Stu are at the police station, but Lola's dad come to the rescue. Then Lola and Ella get into the party as a personal favor of Stu. Come to find out, Lola's favorite singer and songwriter, is a drunk and cannot talk about his great music. Lola then is made fun of by Carla, and she calls Lola a liar. Later, Lola does her role in the play, and is at the wrap party at Carla's house. Stu shows up to give Lola her bottle cap necklace, and Lola dance with Stu. Then Sam, the boy she befriended in the beginning dances with her and there is a happy ending.
