 | I loved the movie. It was a breath of air compared to the shoot 'em up, player, beauty shop, and so on black movies. I loved the simplicity of the movie. Yes, it was slow and could have used a little "umph". Overall, I liked seeing a positive movie about black love.
I find it ironic that black movies about violence and stereotypes fares better than a nice simple romantic movie. I guess if she had gotten beaten or he was a cold-hearted player than the movie would have thrilled more people. LOL.
I say that lovejones was a good try and start at something different we rarely see in our real lives or on the screen. Too bad there couldn't have been a lovejones 2 or at least other nice black romances on the screen. We need to move to another level now that we have a foot in the door of the movie industry. |

what more can I say! That poem that Darius read for Nina. WOW!!!!! I still get chills from that! From the first time I saw that movie....it had me searching out black poetry spots to check out. Poetry like that digs into your soul....and doesn't let go. I can watch that movie over and over again! The store....the performances....everything was so......Mmm...Mmm...Mmm..... a MUST see! |

| I watched this movie about four times before I could begin to like it. It's still not one of my favorites but it does showcase admirable performances by both Larenz Tate and Nia Long. |

| It was great to see Chicago look so beautiful in this well told love story. I hope we get more movies like Love Jones. The DVD is a wonderful edition to my collection. |
