Background:

Pop singer hailed from Indiana Krystal first captured the attention of music lovers with her song “Supergirl,” which was included in the soundtrack of the hit “The Princess Diaries” (2001). She also performed the songs “Love Is A Beautiful Thing” and “The Kid in You” for the films”Legally Blonde” (2001) and “The Country Bears” (2002), respectively. The protégée of Backstreet Boys producer “Mookie” released her debut album, “Me & My Piano,” in 2001. Her second album has been put on hold by her label, KBNHA/The Label/Geffen.

Krystal, whose star sign is Scorpio, counts Madonna, Eminem, Limp Bizkit, OutKast, Al Green, Ray Charles, Papa Roach, Stevie Wonder, Backstreet Boys, and Lenny Kravitz among her favorite musicians. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out and dancing with friends and practicing at gym. She is a comic collector and loves “Superman” very much. Her favorite sport is basketball.

Childhood and Family:

Krystal Marie Harris was born on November 7, 1981, in Anderson, Indiana. The only daughter of Phil and Shelly, who both have musical interest, she was introduced to music at a very young age. She started to sing before her second birthday and take her first instrument, piano, when she was only three years old. Growing up, the talented girl also learned to play bass, flute, drums and guitar. She was educated at Anderson High School in Anderson, Indiana, and graduated in 1999. Her nickname is K, Krys.

Love Is A Beautiful Thing

Career:

Krystal knew she wanted to be a singer when she was still a little girl. Backing herself with early training, the Indiana native signed with KBNHA/The Label/Geffen, the label of Backstreet Boys, shortly after a meeting with the band's producer Jonathan “Mookie” Morant. Her debut album, “Me & My Piano,” was launched on June 21, 2001. In support of the album, she spent the summer touring the U.S. with Backstreet Boys as their opening act.

However, Krystal did not experience a huge break until she sang “Supergirl” for the popular motion picture “The Princess Diaries” (2001), starring Anne Hathaway. Later, she also performed the song live on “The Jenny Jones Show.” Krystal's song, “Love Is A Beautiful Thing,” was used in the Reese Witherspoon starring vehicle “Legally Blonde” (2001). For the film soundtrack, the song was remixed.

The following year saw Krystal launch the song “The Kid in You” for the Disney “The Country Bears” soundtrack. She was also featured on the comedy/musical film. Still in 2002, she also appeared on the failed pilot “Save the Last Dance,” starring Chelsea Hobbs. She portrayed Sarah in “Song for My Father,” a 2003 episode of the drama series “Touched by an Angel.”

Krystal's sophomore album, “Miss Krystal Presents Hip-Pop Soul,” was slated to be released in June 2002, but it has been delayed.
