 | I was really surprised at how entertaining Summer School is. I bought this at a DVD blow-out sale and decided to take a chance as the price was a steal. I expected a typical teen gross-out comedy. However, this is well directed and very heartwarming. Carl Reiner did a very skillful job at creating a sometimes hilarious film with excellent characters. The chemistry between Mark Harmon and Kirsty Alley is terrific. The kids in remedial English are great and surprisingly touching. By the way, anyone who loves the Texas Chainsaw Massacre will get a real buzz (pun intended) out of the character of Chainsaw, a kid who is obsessed with that movie. Loved it. Highly recommended. |

 | The movie itself is what it is. I don't think most people would be finding this movie accidentally. It'll be people who already have seen this movie many times, and just want to own it. In my oppinion it's a great comedy that I'll never forget for some of the gags and situations that happen in it.
However the dvd itself has absolutely nothing extra. No commentary..no behind the scenes stuff...no cut out scenes...nothing. The most you get is english subtitles for the hard of hearing..thank God for that. So I had to take off a star for the lack of any extras...in this day and age commentary should be mandatory...I was expecting that at the very least. |

 | To this day I still use the expression, "Cool dude sunglasses" whenever I'm excited about something. That was the company they write to when someone had the defective sunglasses and then later get a free box of them. I thought Mark Harmon and Kirstie Alley had great chemistry. The movie was on TV recently and I couldn't help but watch it again. It still makes me smile. This is definitely one for the collection. |

 | In all the teen comedies that came out, this has always been a very favorite of mine, and unlike so many 80's movies that get stale and are no longer funny, this one holds up very well.
I have seen this movie countless times. It was nice to see a DVD version.
The movie is funny, well written and directed by comedy god Carl Reiner. Plus unlike teen comedies today this one has heart and a good message, not just filled with D*&k jokes.
The cast is amaizing, Mark Harmon is perfect in the role of Shoop, and it was nice to reflect on an era when Kristie Alley was hot.
I wish the DVD had more, but I understand that this movie never got the attention that a Say Anything, Breakfast Club or a Sixteen Candles ever received.
I am just glad to have this in my collection on DVD.
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, tension breaker...had to be done.
