Summaryawsome movie!!!
Content
this was an awsome movie but the ending was way different in the book ninny died and idgie lived a few miles away and sold honey with julian.
I also wish they would have gone into more depth in Idgie and Ruths relationship because in the book it was way more obvious that Idgie and Ruth loved each other for real even though in the book they had no intimicy.

SummaryThe ending rings false.
Content
This movie was entertaining up until the end, which I felt was totally unbelievable. It ruined the whole thing. I hate movies that let you down at the conclusion. It makes for a rotten feeling, like you've been betrayed. This, and another movie I can think of, "Two Mules for Sister Sara", left me with the same bad vibe. Lousy.

SummaryNo 5.1-Sound contrary to amazon's advertising!
Content
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE AND ADORE THIS MOVIE. I concur with all the revies below, and I think it's one of the best movies ever made!

I just want to add one thing: I still own the Laserdisc (the THX-Signature-Extended-Edition), which has a dolby-surround-soundtrack. The first release of this movie on DVD a couple of years ago also had the same sound transfer. When now this new release was announced by amazon finally with a 5.1-encoding, I ordered it right away (a couple of days ago). Yesterday I received the package and checked it out right away, only to find out that amazon's 5.1-advertisement was misleading. The movie still has it's original 2.0-encoding. I decided to stick to my laserdisc, because when it comes only to dolby-surround-sound, no DVD can beat a laserdisc. Nevertheless I really hope that Universal will put out a new release of this beautiful movie in the near future, for I think that a 5.1-soundtrack will truly add to the movie's emotional climaxes and will enhance every upcoming viewing experience a lot!

Oh, not to forget my request to amazon to correct the sound-encoding for this DVD to avoid any further misleadings for other customers. No 5.1 digital sound, only 2.0 dolby surround sound. - Thank you. (- writing to you from Germany.)

SummaryBest Drama and Tearjerker of all time
Content
What's genius about this movie is it isn't over the top. It's basically like real life, friendship, love, death and illness, ignorance, memories, and being loyal. It is a very sad movie though, but there were so many moving parts that made you cry or just warmed your heart. The only thing I was ever confused about was the end because they pretty much left it up to the audience to figure it out. Was Miss Thredgood idgie? It would make sense since she had photos of idgie and ruth, and knew every detail about their adventures and friendship. But at the beginning, Miss Thredgood said she married idgie's brother Cleo, and was practially adopted by the thredgood family. That contradicts actually being idgie. Or did she just say idgie was alive, so that she could keep her memory alive, because before she told Evylen to go to the grave, she said "all these people will live, as long as you remember them" Well anyway, I've watched Fried Green Tomatoes for years, and it's funny, and sad, and heart-warming. One of those drama's you never get sick of watching. It's also thought provoking. It's a little reminder to not take things for granted.

SummaryMy favorite Movie
Content
I first saw Fried Green Tomatoes with my mom a few months ago and I immediatley fell in love with this movie. It's definitley a movie that can reach out to many people of different age groups, for example I'm only 16 and I love it. It's a really touching story with adventure, plenty of humor and a lot of sad and triumphent times. I'm not going to go into a huge plot synopsis since that's already on the site lol, but I avidly suggest this movie. I'm thinking about buying the book as well I've heard it was great as well. All I can say is watch this movie! You'll fall in love with Ruth, Idgie, Big George, Sypsie and immediatley hate characters such as Frank Bennet. This movie is one of few that really make me feel for the characters you will love this movie.
