Career:

Karl Braun began his career in showbiz as an actor, with a small part as miner in the Italian languaged action/comedy film “Father Jackleg” (1972), starring Jack Palance, Giancarlo Prete and Lionel Stander. He continued to take small parts in other films like “My Name Is Nobody” (1973, starred Terence Hill, Henry Fonda and Jean Martin), “A Genius, Two Friends, and an Idiot” (1975), “The Biggest Battle” (1978), and “La passion d'une femme sans coeur,” a short released in France on June 13, 1979.  

After some forays to acting, Braun tried his hand as a production manager in the documentary  (1981) and the TV series of “Ripley's Believe It or Not!” (1982). Using the name Charles Brown, Braun took on the role of Buttler in “Times to Die” (1982), an American crime/drama movie starring Rex Harrison, Rod Taylor and Edward Albert. Still in that same year, he got his first credit on the Miscellaneous Crew by serving as dialogue director on the film “Doktor Faustus.”

In 1987, Braun served as unit manager as well as played the role of Blacksmith McMahon (using the name of Charlie Braun) in “Straight to Hell,” a British action/comedy directed and co-written by Alex Cox. The same year, he reunited with director Alex Cox for the action/adventure movie “Walker,” starring Ed Harris, Richard Masur and Rene Auberjonois. Two years later, he returned to acting by appearing in an episode of the TV series “Hessische Geschichten.”        

During the 1990s, Braun served as location manager on films such as “Nurses on the Line: The Crash of Flight 7” (TV), “The Scout” (starred Albert Brooks, Brendan Fraser and Dianne Wiest), “Managua,” “The Arrival” and “Bimboland.” The decade also saw him act in the films “Highway Patrolman” (1991), the Peter Boyle starring vehicle “Death and the Compass” (1992), on which he also made his producing debut, and “El oro Que Perdimos” (short, 1995).  

Braun went on to assume the duty as location manager for the films “Pilgrim” (2000), “The Mountain Hawk” (2002, also acted), “Renegade” (2004, also acted), “Bordertown” (2006), “Species: The Awakening” (2007) and “Sin Nombre” (2009) as well as for TV programs like “American Family” (2002), “Sleeper Cell” (2005) and “Como ama una mujer” (2007). Besides, he served as scout in the films “Vampires: Los Muertos” (2002), “Zapata - El sueño del héroe” (2004), “The Matador” (2005) and “Che: Part Two” (2008). Apart from the miscellaneous crew credit, Braun continued to pursue his career as production manager for the films “The Weight of Water” (2000), “The Stickup” (2002), “I Witness” (2003) and “Sin Nombre” (2009). He also produced a short film called “Sus demonios” (2003).
