SummaryHouse of a 1000 Corpses - Awesome!
Content
I agree that this movie isn't for everyone. It's sick, twisted, perverse, sadistic, and extremely wierd; that's exactly what I love about it. Yes, I love this movie! I think it's bad a$$ and I don't care what everybody else thinks. Dr. Satan is the bomb! Rob Zombie did a terrific job here with the direction and production of this film, in my opinion.

SummaryMediocre rubbish....
Content
I generally enjoy films that are deliberately trashy and schlocky, however this film was truly amatuerish and just plain pathetic. The film lacked any real atmosphere and tension, and so I found myself looking at my watch for the entire proceedings.

Summaryscariest movie I have ever seen
Content
This movie scared the piss out of me. I watched it tonight, and it made my skin crawl the whole way through it. Now it's four in the morning, and I have no intention of falling asleep. Dr. Satan is the most original character ever. Corpses has no boundaries and doesn't draw the line for anything. I feel like I saw the most vulgar, the most vile and most importantly-- the most scary movie I have ever seen. I won't be watching it again because I am too much of a wuss, but if you like to be too scared to go to the bathroom after a horror flick, then this is the movie for you. This movie absolutely deserves the term, "horror flick."

SummaryTHE MOST SHOCKING TALE OF CARNAGE EVER SEEN!
Content
Despite the fact that a fair amount of fans were left feeling disappointed, "House of 1000 Corpses" (Rob Zombie's directoral debut) isn't as bad as you may think. Of course, it may rely mostly on the usage of blood and gore, but it's still one terrifying trip into hell that you will NEVER FORGET!! Turned down by other filmmaking companies such as Universal and MGM, Lions Gate Films finally picked the project up and gave it a limited release in the spring of 2003! Eventually, it became a DVD release, and both fans of horror and death metal (e.g. Zombie himself) came around and gave it a second chance. Unfortunately, the critics considered it as trash and rated it so badly without even watching it with an open mind. Supposedly, it could be because it pays homage to the good ol' shock cinema flicks of the early/late 70s that some may not be able to stomach! Yes, some movies made today are heavily censored and no where near as gruesome as they used to be! (Try comparing George A. Romero's 1979 film, "Dawn of the Dead" with the 2004 remake and you'll see what I'm talking about) Nevertheless, horror/gore buffs (such as I) will get a kick out of all the awesome makeup effects and characters!

Obviously, 'Corpses' is NOT the most original horror movie made (A fair amount of the storyline resembles to that of Tobe Hooper's, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre") and the camera movements are quite sloppy in some areas, but for a B grade film, the acting is actually quite good (though it drags a tad bit in some areas) and it's surprisingly scary! In addition, we get to see some fresh new original faces: One of the actors/actresses in particular includes Rob Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, who gives a perfectly creepy [and psychotic] performance as Baby Firefly!

Taking place on Halloween Eve, 1977, two young couples (Chris Hardwick, Jennifer Jostyn, Erin Daniels, & Rainn Wilson) decide to take a road trip across the country in search of many different road side attractions. Soon enough, they stumble upon the mysterious Captain Spaulding (given a comic performance by Sid Haig) who tells them of a local legend known as "Doctor Satan". Curious after hearing Spaulding's story, the four set out to discover for themselves if the legend is really true. What they uncover is something far more terrifying than they had anticipated when they are held captive inside the cannibalistic Firefly residence by Mother Firefly (Karen Black), Otis Driftwood Firefly (Bill Moseley), Baby Firefly, and the rest of the Firefly family! There they are tortured and murdered in some of the bloodiest sequences you will ever see! (Who can ever forget the 'Rabbit chase' scene? BRILLIANT! ) Now, the four youths must escape with their lives, or experience something far worse than death! But who will survive the nightmarish carnage?

Indeed, this is one of the BEST modern day horror flicks ever made (maybe not THE best, but who cares?) and is guaranteed to scare the living hell out of you--LITERALLY! As if that weren't enough, there is also plenty of shocking footage that will make you cringe! Finally, we are introduced to the newest horror movie icon since Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger: DOCTOR SATAN HIMSELF! If you're looking for a GOOD horror movie that has lots of scares and a few campy moments, than I recommend this one to you! However, if you are squeamish and/or the faint of heart when it comes to this kind of material, then I suggest you look elsewhere! Everyone else, pop a little popcorn, turn out the lights and enjoy this fun little horror flick with a date or alone, if you dare! For those of you, who loved this, be sure to also check out the follow-up, "The Devil's Rejects", now playing in theatres!
