The wife of Emmy Award-winning TV personality/talk show host Regis Philbin, Joy Philbin frequently co-hosts with her husband on his syndicated talk show “Live with Regis and Kelly” when Kelly Ripa has the day off. She also has hosted the HGTV television show “At Home With...” and the syndicated home show “Haven.”
Being married to Regis Philbin since 1970, Joy has two daughter with him, Joanna and Jennifer Joy (aka. J.J).
Childhood and Family:
In New York, New York, Joy Senese was born on February 1, 1941. She married her present husband, Emmy Award-winning talk show host Regis Philbin (born on August 25, 1931), on March 1, 1970. They have two daughters, Joanna (born in 1972) and Jennifer Joy (aka J.J. Philbin, born on August 30, 1974), a screenwriter and television producer best known for her work on the drama series "The O.C."
Joy's son-in-law is Emmy-nominated television producer and writer Michael Schur, who is married to Jennifer. Joy is also the grandmother of the couple's first child, son William Xavier Schur.
Live with Regis
Around 14 years after marrying Regis Philbin, Joy Philbin began appearing on her husband's talk show "Regis Philbin's Lifestyles" (1984). In the following year, she had a cameo appearance in writer/director Andy Sidaris' the action/adventure film "Malibu Express" (1985), starring Darby Hinton, Sybil Danning, Lori Sutton and Art Metrano.
In the early '90s, Joy appeared as herself in Irwin Winkler's remake of the 1950 film noir, "Night and the City" (1992), starring Robert De Niro and Jessica Lange, and in a February 1993 episode of the NBC sitcom starring Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt, "Mad About You."
2002 saw Joy shared the screen with Al Pacino, Kim Basinger, Ryan O'Neal, and Téa Leoni in Daniel Algrant's drama film "People I Know." That same year, she also hosted the 30-minute family/documentary about the youngest figure skater gold medalist in the history of the Olympic Winter Games, "At Home with Tara Lipinski." Additionally, she has hosted the HGTV television show “At Home With...” and the syndicated home show “Haven.”
Since 2004, Joy occasionally co-hosts with her husband on his syndicated talk show “Live with Regis and Kelly” when Kelly Ripa has the day off. The popular and long-running morning program that has aired for 24 years in its home market of New York City in its current format, and 19 years nationwide, was announced on January 16, 2007 to be renewed through the 2010-2011 season.
Meanwhile, Joy appeared in a December 2004 episode of the syndicated daytime talk show "The Tony Danza Show" and in a March 2006 episode of ABC sitcom "Hope & Faith." She also played herself in John Pasquin-directed action movie/comedy film starring Sandra Bullock and Regina King, "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous" (2005), a sequel to the 2000 film "Miss Congeniality."
