 | This movie does a nice job at describing the feeling of graduation mixed with the anxiety of growing up moving on and falling in love. Cameron Crowe takes the talented and young John Cusack along with the charming and beautiful Ione Skye and concocts a believable and heart warming chemistry. The soundtrack is magnificent which should come as no surprise as Cameron Crowe was correspondent for Rolling Stone magazine and the subject for Almost Famous. The story finds Diane Court, Ione Skye, graduating balidictorian creme de la creme, "skye's" the limit taking a fellowship as a Rhode Scholar. Both Diane Court and Lloyd Dobler, John Cusack, a graduating senior as well completly unsure of how he plans to apply himself other than the fact that he wants nothing more than to spend every waking second with Ione Skye. The story takes a sort of unexpected twist when Diane Court's father James Court, played by the seasoned veteren James Mahoney, is suspected as laundering money from his clients and is tried, convicted, and sent to prison. For the fan of romantic comedies and or eighties cult classics this is the film for you. You really get a warm feeling walking away from this story with a cast you can relate to along with a plot well written highlighted by a soundtrack unparalleled in cinema. |

 | This movie is wonderful. I saw it for the first time when it first came out and it has held a special place in my heart ever since. It is a simple movie, but that is where it holds most of its charm. The relationship is beautiful and feels and looks honest and sincere. When the love in a love story is as believable as this, you can't go wrong. The chemistry just works and John Cusack's character is somewhat of a hero, in my mind. This character is a true romantic, whose weaknesses are as charming as his strengths. |
